Our MP, Kit Malthouse, didn't have any. I approve as I don't see the benefit of sending MPs abroad. What they should do more of is visit people in their own constituency.

Fallon didn't have any either. I can "see the benefit of sending MPs abroad" but we lose that benefit by letting the buggers back in.

As this thread is titled "Good News" I think we may be wandering off-piste a bit.

Very pleasant surprises.
Sold the Pass Pre on Saturday. Good for me, bargain for the buyer and off to ..... Vietnam
Paid cash. Don't want cash in the house so that has to go to the bank.
Somewhere I heard the Post Office takes cash to pay direct into your bank. Hmm. Can't be that simple. Look it up. Confirmed. With paying in book or debit (!) card. Nah. Life isn't that simple.
Into car, down the road, parking space right outside the PO. Queue Signs confirm cash is taken. "Understand I can pay cash in, with a card" - best for me. Nice guy. Put card in there. Ooh tech. Will I break it ? Apparently not. He takes cash. Counts it out. Display shows amount paid in ! Receipt printed out !
Back home I check bank account.
Already showing in account.
Our PO is a good place. I like this

Obviously no great market penetration from eBay in Finland. They're missing a trick there.

linkNeed to accelerate the demise of the infernal combustion engine... Pollution in our cities is horrendous / at crisis point. While at the same time in France they protest about something being done about or - or perhaps the fear the money will just disappear? linkWe've some hard choices ahead.

Travel is currently part of normal life.
Too much in my view. After the experience of driving up to 40,000 miles a year and commuting into London for some years I decided it was a daft game I didn't want to play.

I commuted to secondary school (two trains and a bus each way) then to London for 22 years (two trains each way, often taking tube trains as well in the first three years) and then in different directions for my next two jobs, contracting and permanent. I probably, if pushed, would admit that I miss working in London, but I definitely do not miss travelling there, or anywhere else, every day.

For about a year I lived in London (Kings Cross) and drove to Calne and back for work - about 200 miles each day. Madness.

A DJ whose shed-based radio station has only ever been heard by his wife is expanding his audience after 44 years. Mr Duncan has been offered a one-hour special on BBC local radio - and can finally realise his "ultimate ambition" to broadcast to the rest of Stevenage. SOURCE

A very "low-key" report on the BBC, but something a lot of us have mentioned here... More than 50 people have been arrested in India for their alleged involvement in fake security warning scams. The New York Times said that Delhi police made the arrests during raids on 26 call centres linked to the scams. Software giant Microsoft helped police trace who was behind the large-scale operations. "This is an organised crime," Courtney Gregoire, an assistant general counsel in Microsoft's digital crimes unit told the US newspaper. Microsoft has estimated that fraudsters make about $1.5bn (£1.2bn) a year through fake Windows support calls. SOURCE

I am currently 'educating' our staff by using a very good security service which generates fake-but-convincing phishing e-mails. If they click on the link, it shows them a warning message about needing to be more careful and gives me a full report. My first test yesterday gave me a result of 34% of staff clicked on the link. Industry best practice after a year of education is 3%.
Clearly there is more work to do. The above post reminds me that telephone scams are also part of the general need to educate people to be more suspicious of any such communications and stop being so gullible.

Another feelgood footy moment from me...
A heartwarming video captured the moment a blind Liverpool FC fan celebrated Mo Salah's Champions League goal after his friend described it to him.
The Reds fan, who was sat at the front of The Kop for last night's crucial home fixture against Napoli, was filmed beaming from ear to ear and applauding Salah's goal. While Anfield erupts in celebrations around him, the blind fan looks to the sky with a massive grin on his face. His friend, who is stood next to him in the stand, can be seen embracing him and speaking into his ear to explain the goal while fans celebrate around them.
The video has been shared widely on social media since it was posted on Twitter after the game and a post accompanying the beautiful video said: "This blind fan celebrating Salah’s goal after his friend tells him about the play is amazing! The beautiful game."
On such a pivotal night for Liverpool FC's Champion's League campaign, this heartwarming moment perfectly captures the power of football.
