About a month ago I sent a message to a friend, who did not reply. Then a wee later I saw a Whatsapp message from him. It was his wife letting me know that he had passed away. Then a week ago I tried calling another friend. I called every day but got no reply. Today I got a call so let me know that he had passed away. I wonder who else had things like that happen to them?

More likely as we get older.
Glad to say I have not had that happen to me

Nor me, but my friends aren't getting any younger.

Shortly before I was married four of us went away to a mate's caravan for what turned into a fairly riotous weekend. Those other three guys have all passed away now, as has my wife. I'm quite conscious of my own mortality.

I'm sorry to hear of your losses Stan. I sympathise greatly as, at the request of his widow, I recently spent several days informing friends and business contacts of the loss of a good friend and former colleague. Then I was asked to write his obituary for a journal. That was a tough job.

I have lost one good friend a month since the beginning of the year so far, which is far more than I have ever lost in a whole year. I hope that it doesn't get as bad as it is for an uncle of mu wife. At 80 he had lost every one of his friends. It's so bad that unless I go and visit him, nobody else except his own kids passes by to have a drink with him.
