As the subject title says. Is it going to become obligatory to have a poll about these things? Why not just discuss it without having to vote on it?. The inclusion of a poll smells somewhat of fishing for preferences for marketing purposes in my opinion (although the reality is no doubt very far away from this), and I'm sick to the back teeth of being hit with internet questionaires full of loaded questions. On top of that, and this is the biggest irony, the polls in the this section are about music, it's not a competition for goodness sake! Time to nip it in the bud, eh?

I find it rather interesting as it introduces me to some versions I might not have heard. The poll gives an instant view of other people's preferences with is also interesting if not actually important. If you don't want to vote, you can always just discuss.
I would be quite happy to see them stay. As always, if I didn't find them interesting, I would bother looking at them.
Mind you, your poll questions are a bit harsh. No 2 is phrased to make it sound obligatory. I've voted that anyway, in spite of it not being exactly what I mean

I like the comparison of different recordings of the same music, just not the poll.
Say they pick 3 recordings, there always seems to be someone who favours a different version.

I'm not saying that different cover versions of songs shouldn't be discussed, it's just that the poll aspect is unnecessary.

I have voted on this poll but I didn't want to. One can have toooo much of a good thing. I don't usually bother with polls due to a Surfeit. They rarely ask what I want to say.

Might get tedious
I can cope so far and always abstain if bored.
The amount of votes can show how popular the concept is

No-one here has a vested interest (mostly).
On the second, it was never intended that they be a competition, more an attempt at getting members to listen to things they perhaps hadn't previously.
We'll keep them limited. There's no reason why you couldn't start one

It's easy if you don't like them don't vote or post on the respective threads. Participation is optional.
