Whether it's boring or not everyone, including you, knows that it was initially instigated with RD, no getting away from that fact.

That discussion was between RD and FB I simply tried to facilitate it. When it became apparent that no one other than MCRU was willing to host it, due to RD being involved, we (AoS) decided to do our own thing. That decision was based on distance only. Like I said, I don't care about RD, I like his NVA products. I am NOT anti RD or NVA but there's a lot of folks he's upset that don't wish to be in his company. That's why this bakeoff is happening. He can still organise his own bakeoff in conjunction with anyone else he wants to. He can even invite specific people like FB but I'm afraid that's up to him to sort out. Whether it's boring or not everyone, including you, know that it was initially instigated with RD, no getting away from that fact.

An argument between AoS and HFS is not welcome on this forum. Anymore of it and I will lock this thread until you cool off.

Bigman, the first? time you met or shared a space with the NVA main man was at a bake-off I understand. Was he all blood and thunder then? I believe he wasn't by the accounts of the others there and he actually got on with MCRU as well. I have to ask what makes you think he'd be any different at this bakeoff which he proposed initially to be with the Firebottle primarily? I don't believe he actually 'fell out' with Macca either, just allowed other frustrations to perhaps get in the way.
It's all so effin' childish in my opinion - and I spent enough times in kids playgrounds when I was a TA to see it enacted daily...
The point is, you use a basically good trusted turntable source, plug in one phono stage and spend time with it with different albums or a single or two, then on everybody's agreement, you insert another, taking trouble to keep volume levels the same. If one is judged 'better' than another, then the slightly less preferred one can be looked at again with a renewed sense of a reference point - a benchmark I suppose. Otherwise one is pissing in the wind with no idea at all. Does that make some kind of sense? This happened the last time and the Firebottle had some tweaks done as the designer knew where he wanted to go. The NVA is so simple internally I'm not sure much could be done except power supply tweaking, but what do I know...

Dave, did you not see the comment by Chris above?
Please refrain from continuing these discussions here, thank you.

I'm just mentioning a few things that may not have been discussed before. I hardly post on AOS now and same with HFS, but I DO see RD regularly and of all of you, it's ME who has the most to fear for 'verbals' if I make a mistake which I try hard not to do, as it causes other people grief not just myself. I have nothing to do with forum 'wars' and didn't mention either Paul, just the bakepff late last year that MCRU hosted. Oh, and I haven't made up a Phono stage for over two years now and the ones I had anything to do with sold trough a long time ago - current ones use different casework and are more involved in the subsequent construction!

Ok, we'll have to let it rest there. I appreciated the invitation but I could not attend. Now that it's exclusive to AoS members I think we'll bow out at this point and leave you guys to organise it. We would still be happy to receive a bake-off report after the event.
