Saw an advert for a Sony PS4750 a 1970s Sony amp and some Tannoy speakers ( I think) for £30!!!!!!
I rang the seller and it was an old dear, said I would have them and said I'd give her £125 as she had truly undervalued them.
Her reply was I didn't know what they were worth so I put them up for £30 but sold them straightaway as guy came round immediately to collect.
My question is:- should you do the right thing
or just think
"old fool should have done her homework" and run away laughing

Maybe top up the dough when you collect.
Better goes out for the bin men

Couple of years ago I won a set of interconnects for £70 on Ebay which were worth nearer £800 . Again it was an older lady who hadn't listed them properly and had ended the auction in the middle of the night . The next day I called her and explained to her what they were and their value . It turned out her brother had died and she was given them to sell . She didn't have a clue what they were and how to go about selling them properly . In the end she told me that I had won them fair and square . I did offer her more money but she declined to accept it . In life I have got to be able to live with myself from a moral perspective . Money isn't everything at the end of the day

Shame you didn't get there first . She would have been a few quid richer if you had

I was looking for a tonearm at the back end of last year and came across a seller who had something i was interested in. The lady was selling off her late husbands collection of gear and several things were listed incorrectly. There were several sme 3012 arms listed just as pickup arm, and a rotel michi phono stage listed as a graphic equaliser
The rotel had a few hours over a day left and was on about 30 quid, the sme arms were on sod all.
I contacted the lady to tell her what she actually had, and to advise her to relist due to being in the wrong categories.
Upshot was, after I helped her to list them properly she got what they were actually worth.
I could have got the lot for sod all but that to me would have been completely immoral
What's wrong with just being a good person and helping out someone who needs your expertise rather than screwing somebody out of something

reminds me of the apocryphal story about being asked to 'get rid of a couple of old heaters that have never worked'. They were Quad ESL's, and worked perfectly as such (though not as heaters)

It is nice to be Honest. Honest is something i have been all my life but on many, too many occasions my honesty has been my downfall.
My grandad dad always used to say to me the dishonest business men are the successful ones.

Maybe, but a dishonest man will never have truly honest friendships. Their whole life is a sham of people knowing what they're like really.

They say that money can't buy you happiness. Whilst that may be true it can, however, allow you to be miserable in comfort.
