The programme for Proms 2018 has been announced. www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/proms/bbc-proms-2018/Seems to be continuing the recent trend of becoming more eclectic, mixing in modern and new commissions. Looks like its going to be another cheap year for me - I've looked through twice now and not found a single 'must-see'!

Thanks, Jules. I'll have a scan later.
It would be nice to have a few members come to a classical gig this year.

Indeed it would Martin! Watch out for the classical press gang coming to a city near you ...

I'd love to attend Prom 10: Faure, Franck & Widor’s Toccata but I would have to drag Ruth in chains to get her to an organ recital! Similarly, Prom 11: Mahler's 8th.
Prom 33: Brahm's Requiem, that's more like it.
How about Prom 42: Grieg's Piano Concerto? It's a great introduction for people wanting to put their foot in the water, although the accompanying programme is not so good (although I like Pärt).
Prom 65: Stravinsky, Ravel & Berio would be a choice one for me, I love the Rite of Spring.

Yes, if I attend anything it will be Prom 33 Brahms and actually Prom 42 does look pretty good - I would like to hear Khatia Buniatishvili playing the Grieg and you do get Sibelius 5 which is a very fine symphony.

I wonder if the Prom 42: Grieg/Sibelius/Pärt is the best one to try a group buy? Are any members interested in going?
It's Monday 13th August at 19:30 at the Albert Hall.

Damn and triple damn.
I can't do it - I will have flown to Greece just three days earlier ...
