Two classic versions of Black Magic Woman
First version is the the original very Blues inspired performance
Santana mixes Latin rhythms into the song

This is a great track, I enjoyed both versions. I keep seeing Santana on lists of "overrated" music stars, but I have to admit to not being very familiar with their work, I'll add a few albums to Spotify for later.
Definitely Peter Green for me, a legend. I think Mick Fleetwood is one of the greatest rock drummers of all time, but you might think my judgement is poor because I would also put Phil Collins on the list (behind Keith Moon).

Both are great Its interesting in a interview Peter Green prefers the Santana version Early Santana is pretty cool they had a lot of energy and certainly were adding something different Check this out for what Santana in their early days were all about

Much prefer the Peter green version. Another tragedy that he was lost to drugs for so long (although it did bring us Lindsay Buckingham). 1st cd of best of santana is my favourite pool music and often played at the pool I will be lieing around next month. But a couple of years ago sue got me a Santana guitar legends cd. Check out some great versions of whole lot to love, sunshine of your love, and while my guitar gently weeps

I love them both but if I had to make choice, it would be the Greeny one. It's the one I heard first which is probably why I prefer it.

Both
Cannot vote for one without the other
I remember my outrage when I first heard the Santana version. Grew to love it though

For me, this is one of those cases where the cover exceeds the original. A truly great song, of course, but Santana's version is epic.

I would also put Phil Collins on the list (behind Keith Moon). Oh, good observation. I think Collins is a superb drummer and even did well with Genesis when he was both singing and drumming. However, the later soppy stuff is best avoided (although the anger on Hello I Must be Going is well performed).

Carlos has some stellar albums to his name. A few not so good agreed, but some earth movers in his catalogue. A great guitarist and a great band leader and facilitator I loved Fleetwood Mac Mark 1. They were one of 'our' bands. Saw them many times. Never disappointed. Often the earth moved. All the early LPs are good. Then play on a tour de force with some superb drums and bass. If you don't know Brand X, with Collins on drums check out Moroccan Roll to start and then everything they did

I have to go with Santana. Santana band added to the original with their epic arrangement.

Santana version for me (by a whisker) - could it be related to which you heard first?
