A bit of an update on my build. I had to wait for the weather to be more suitable for working outside. A got a second sub some time ago and just did a quick box build using a large fiberglass/magnesium plant pot of approximately the same volume as my other sub. I also got a couple of MC2 MC450 amplifiers for my Subs. These are class A/B pro amplifiers. Still more painting to do of the units and covers to hide the Subs, then new identical Sub boxes. No problem. Going to have to replace the fireplace surround with an Oak one now though as its sticking out like a sore thumb.

That's a great custom build. With those twin subs, you'll have to be careful not to overload the room.

I have the subs tweaked with the BSS fds334T processor so they just sound like an extension of the speakers. They give great presence with live recordings, allowing you to hear the space of the venue.

They give great presence with live recordings, allowing you to hear the space of the venue. That's what I like about great bass - you can hear air movements, subterranean stuff, which makes a big hall feel big. Or the infra-bass that Yello, for instance, put into their music. At other times, when there is no bass, a good system will give none.

I've started a thread on killer bass tracks. Would love to hear your suggestions.

awesome work! Your system gets the same paw patrol audition/treatment mine gets, hahaha!
I take it they are stereo subs...noticed each has a MC450 amp. what is feeding the sub amps? direct from DAC? have you experimented with different integration techniques? what's with the paper taped to the top of the enclosures in the last photo?

Haha, yes Paw patrol is the latest test material. Yes, I run the subs as Left and right through a BSS fds334t. My speakers run through this too so I can add delay and tackle room modes. It introduces noise though through the speakers, but it can only be heard when close to a speaker. I’ve tried all sorts of different crossover slopes and frequencies between speakers and subs and I’m constantly messing with it which annoys me at times. I have the subs crossing to the speakers at 62hz now and can’t seem to get it any higher without the output dropping, like the subs or the room are causing problems at 60-80hz whereas the speakers aren’t. Sounds good now though, just like a pair of big speakers. I’ve changed the drive units in my speakers, so I think my next plan is to buy Powersoft dsp plate amps as I think I will be able to control the MC450’s from the Powersofts too and get rid of the BSS unit. The paper is just there while I paint as I’ve a coat or two left before I’m finished. It’s taking a while doing it around work and the kids. Cheers Matt

Getting the slopes right takes a bit of time and sometimes I had to make small adjustments when I made upgrades. Thankfully I not had to adjust any of Mt settings for a while now

Have to say Matt nice job on the installation, a lot of time and care has gone into that project. Unfortunately by ability with wood working is close to zero, my father was the chap for those jobs, my alleged talents lie in other directions. Top stuff Matt.

Getting the slopes right takes a bit of time and sometimes I had to make small adjustments when I made upgrades. Thankfully I not had to adjust any of Mt settings for a while now It certainly takes some time and patience, but luckily gets easier as you get used to it. My problem is the constant thought of squeezing a bit more from the system with another adjustment.
