Really nice neat quality job Matt, should give yourself a big pat on the back for that install Thanks. One thing I’ve learnt, is that I should have bought a table saw at the start as it would have guaranteed more accurate cuts. I only bought one when I started the sub doors.

Just a quick update, the grills arrived today. I cleaned the grease off them with a rag and white spirits, drilled fixing holes, then sprayed them with primer and fitted them. I need to get a spray can of the Antique white Chalk paint to finish the grills as I don't think brushing on paint will work. Untitled by MattSPL, on Flickr

Very nice! I hope the grills won't rattle or vibrate.

Very nice! I hope the grills won't rattle or vibrate. I drilled 26 holes around the edges for screws, but just put in every other one for now as I need to remove to paint. If necessary, once fully painted I could add a bead of silicone too. So far so good though, but haven’t cranked it up yet.

Great job Matt. The care and attention to detail shows Thanks Mike. I just picked up a can of the antique white spray paint, so I can do the grills over the weekend if it’s not raining.

Looks done to me Thus the difference between us It’s hard to tell from the picture, but the paint is off white and the grille is currently just a standard white primer. Too windy outside to spray paint at the moment though.

First time on the forum in a year or 2. I’ve not had much time for Hifi with work and the kids.
One of my Digidesign speakers made a loud “POP” while my wife was watching something on tv. I ran into the sitting room to find one of the speakers red lights had come on and stopped working. I presume it’s probably a bad capacitor in the power supply as I heard this was a common fault with these speakers. I will open them up at some stage to try and fix them.
So, this got me on the hunt for new speakers as they are used daily for the tv because I just can’t listen to a Tv speaker.
I did a search for PMC AML1’s as they are a very similar design and size to the Digidesign’s. Luck had it that there was a pair for sale in Northern Ireland, just 2 hours drive from me, so I bought them and met half way with the seller. Really happy with the AML1’s, great sound quality and bass for their size. I’m now back on the Hifi addiction and fighting for some quiet in the sitting room with the kids.
I’ll try add a pic later.

Thanks. In Flickr, you can select Share, BBCode and copy that code straight into the forum like this:

Thanks Martin,
I think it was because I’m on my phone. I could only find an option to copy the link.

I don't bother with Flickr on the phone. I use Tapatalk instead, and they host photos directly.
Flickr is great for Windows PCs.

Some cable upgrades just arrived.
Some cat 8 patch leads to go from the fibre box to the router and router to Sky Q box. The supplied patch leads seem to only be cat 5e! Only thing with the cat 8 is they are huge and not very flexible.
Also, a Wireworld mini Aurora fig.8 cable with Schuko connector for the sky Q box.
And a QED Reference Quartz Toslink cable to replace a bog standard Philips cable.
