How much might this change things for us punters ?# Spotty ValuationMy first thought : Shareholders want profit so price increases or dilution of service on the cards

Isn't that usual after the first day's euphoria? Needs a while to settle to their "proper" value....

I think this public sale involves only already-issued shares being widely available?
In any case, Spotify are on their way to becoming profitable by next year. The bigger danger is from Apple and Google, who have lower market shares but the power to drive Spotify into the ground if they so wish.

I have just cancelled my Spotify Premium subscription.
I found that I was just not using it enough and have to admit that I just don't like a lot of new music!
Every Friday, I would sample the new releases and very few of them appealed! If I see the notation "EXPLICIT LYRICS" I am immediately put off!
Call me old, boring or whatever, but I just don't enjoy some "yoof" effing and blinding through my hi fi!
Give me songs with thoughtful, well-constructed lyrics anyday, instead of the drivel that passes for musical expression in some quarters!
Nothing against Spotify Premium quality, which sounds very good overall and the catalogue is certainly extensive and serves as a useful medium for sampling recommendations, with a view to purchasing the physical media.
I was interested to read a Hi Fi Pig article today, that stated Highresaudio are launching their own streaming service later this month, with a second service, at an additional premium, which will give a 30% discount off Hi-Rez downloads!

I always avoided the new releases, I found the whole thing annoying. HoweverI did like it for finding new music, linking from other bands, that function is useful. Our subscription ran out as we moved from Vodafone to Sky mobile and spotty had come for free, not sure whether we will renew or not yet.

I'm the opposite, I'm using Spotify more and more. I love the features, especially Your Daily Mix and Discover Weekly.
I use it at work and in the car so it really justifies itself.

So far I use it to hear albums I want to sample. Quality improvements at reasonable cost have it sounding very good indeed.
