Yep that's mine too (although technically the Metro Arena is about 500 yards closer)

Define 'local' as I have quite a few within a 40 mile radius that I go to regularly, over a dozen in fact. Not trying to be awkward, I'm just not quite sure what you mean?

These are all local venues (within a couple of miles) which I visit frequently, but I also consider Bristol local as I often travel up to 150 miles for shows, so Bristol is local in my book.
The Tramshed St. David’s Hall Clwb Ifor Bach Cardiff University (2 venues) Motorpoint Arena The Globe Wales Millennium Centre St John's Church Paget Rooms
Adding Bristol to the above list would bring the total to around two dozen good venues within an hours drive.
As for favourites, probably Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff and The Lantern in Bristol, both great sounding rooms and intimate. I've given up on the Royal Albert Hall as it sounds shite in there 9 times out of 10, I have swapped it for The Symphony Hall in Birmingham, which is closer and far superior.

There's virtually nothing within 10 miles of me except the beach and the countryside!

I have a couple of good uns here, Sheffield city hall, o2 and leadmill. Favourite at the moment is the imperial club in Mexborough. They brew their own beer there, always a good atmosphere and always a good band on. And its only a 20 minute walk to get there. The wife, mother in law, sister in law and daughter went to city hall on Saturday to see a Fleetwood mac tribute that was by all accounts and from the videos they took were very good indeed. Saw Australian pink floyd there too and they were brilliant. The o2 we saw UK foo fighters and a pearl Jam tribute, and going to see UK foo there again in may. Leadmill, need i say more.

Quite a few here in Edinburgh. None really big though - usually Murrayfield is used for that.
Last one I was in was the Queens Hall which is pretty good. Comfy, well laid out and good acoustics.

I've never been to a gig in Edinburgh. Quite a few in Glasgow though - Julian Cope at the Barrowland was one of the best gigs I've seen.

The venue we tend to find ourselves going to most often is the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal. Also The Academy in Manchester a fair bit. Neither is exactly local though.

Obviously I'm biased but Edinburghs excellent as a city to visit. Lots of different styles of pubs and restaurants and the music scene is pretty good. It's not excellent by a long shot but for smaller, lower key type events it's very good. Barrowlands gets all the hype - it is good just too many weegies for my liking!

The nearest venue would be the Forum or the Underworld in Camden which reminds me of the Marquee in Wardour Street a bit sleazy but many happy memories

Every gig I went to at The Marquee was too loud. It's not an enjoyable experience.

I don't go to any local venues. The nearest that I attend regularly is the Barbican Centre, a bus ride away from me.

The Anvil, Basingstoke, which is a nice venue. I love The Anvil a very good venue indeed, especially The Forge - that's a great room for music, seen some really superb shows in there.

the sage gateshead The Sage is a great music venue. The acoustics are excellent and it's a genuinely lovely place to visit.
