You're better off looking at ebay. Would not know what to look for,I need a new soldering iron aswell,still thinking about Julie's psu when I get my health sorted out, im messing about with a battery at the moment,just unplugged the best of both worlds linear psu

Look for keywords like "12V linear power supply" and see what comes up. You don't need much current for a DAC, 1A would be more than enough.

No, I haven't measured it, but Stan did specify once a good smps for the Caiman and with an S-Booster on the output, it may well be all you really need. The eBay 15V ones for forty quid shouldn't be sniffed at, but techies here may sneer (with justification?) at the basic regulators used.
As always and he is friendly - ask Stan what he'd suggest..
