I have always had a liking for US hifi. I think it started with Krell, but I have grown to like Spica, ARC, Snell, Apogee, Bedini, Bryston, Aragon, McIntosh, DCM and many more. American kit generally, seems to have a big-boned ease about it. I also love the aesthetics of much of it.
Loads of people seem to like British hifi, others rate the Japanese Battleship stuff and many more seem to appreciate the obvious VFM of Chinese kit. I thought it might make for an interesting poll as well as a topic for discussion.

As all of the amplification and cabling in my main system is NVA I obviously voted U.K.

I don't care that much anymore nowadays. All I want in the end, is something that makes me feel good. But must both be reliable and durable though.

I went for Chinese amps for vfm - but with British tweaks Bluetooth from China Speakers from USA (Horne Shoppe) and U.K. (Audio Note).
Now,that's slightly different to what I'm most fond of!
I really like Audio Note amps - some Japanese some British,I'm also keen on Luxman kit and Leben amps and Electric Beach speakers.
So,in all a bit mixed up. I do think us Brits tend to get a nice balance with great sound and good looks though - the Frugel3s being an excellent example.

90% of my kit is Japanese, generally as i have a lot of vintage 70/80s when they made excellent products. Have a Marantz TT before there products were being dumbed down by Philips, a UK TT & speakers so I had voted for none in particular. I like kit that to my eyes looks pleasing as well as sounds good too.

As it appears most people do here I go with what I feel sounds best in the system. What I do find interesting is the fact I prefer UK and US tuners more to my taste than most Japanese ones, with the exception of some older units by Trio/Kenwood and JVC. To my ears many 70/80s UK speakers sounded “ploddy” and many Japanese speakers, slammed my the press at the time, were amazing, NS 1000s, Zero 5s and some of the Technics horns for example. I think you just need to go with what’s best in the system.

I couldn't agree more, since i've caught the vintage bug, i can try a whole lot of gear for next to nothing in terms of cost, then swap/sell anything i don't enjoy. I love getting a new deck or amp/receiver and trialling it with my current system then matching the speakers etc.

Mine's almost all British (ie made by British companies in the UK) except for amp/DAC integrated (French) and cartridges (Dutch and Swedish). But in my time I've also owned stuff made in Canada, the USA, Japan and Denmark.

My main system is a mix of mainly US/Canadian and UK gear. I've always favoured what a lot of American gear does well, which is to produce a good sized soundstage. My Gyrodec also supports that type of presentation rather well.

I really don’t mind much where stuff is made, as long as we’re not talking about dodgy and dangerous Chinese stuff. That said, nearly all of the analogue components which have beguiled me recently are Japanese, from Miyajima cartridges to the new (and franky astonishing) Glanz arms; also the humble Technics SL-1200GR is an impressively musical thing, at least when liberated from its nice looking but mediocre tonearm.
For reference, my current system consists of:
Lyngdorf TDAi2170 - Denmark Technics SL-1200GR - Japan Jelco TK-850S tonearm - Japan Miyajima Shilabe/Zero Cartridges - Japan Ortofon Kontrapunkt B, NOS - Denmark KEF LS50 speakers - UK/China Paul Hynes MC2 MC Stepup - UK (Scotland) ANT Kora 3T SE Phono Amp, with Paul Hynes PSU - UK Mutec MC3 +USB Reclocking/Isolating interface - Germany Cables - Ziro Audio, VertexAQ - UK
So, a tie for top place between Japan and the UK!

Never given it a thought, just like what sounds good to me and is affordable at the time. Don't tend to buy/change a lot

For inexpensive hi-fi, the Chinese are coming up the slope very well. Look at SMSL as one example.
