LOL - I was talking about edge sharpening not the overall sharpness of the image ... A quick question Barry - are you post-processing at all or are the images straight off the camera?

They are lovely little creatures. Great pic too. I didn't know what to expect when I opened the thread, I'd figured it was either going to be a three wheeled car or someone dressed s Batman's sidekick.

What image processing software do you use, Barry? I probably use Photoshop more than any other single piece of software.

Great - if you want to get the shot just perfect have a look at whether you have one of those filters that gets rid of the purple blue fringing you’ve got around the top edges of the robin. I’ve got this filter in Lightroom which works very well. When you have a shot like this which is heavily contrasted against a blown-out background you will often get this fringing to varying degrees depending on lens, focal length and aperture.

I'm very much a beginner , hadn't even noticed the fringing , can see it now . I'll check my photo software and see if I can get rid of it .

purple blue fringing you’ve got around the top edges of the robin. I've blown it up in DXO in this case its not fringing but actually the fine edges of the feathers giving a greyish blue edge . On the photo forum I belong to I allow my photos to be edited , one of the guys has cleaned up the background. (Haven't got a clue how to do that yet)
