I love the looks of the Trio. There's something about that sort of kit that just makes me want to smile.

I picked up the Trio off Gumtree, the guy wanted £30 for it, 5hr round trip to go get it mind you, and there is some damage to the face plate as some previous owner decided to hacksaw the 2 flanges off, presumably so it could fit in a rack.
The Sound of this through my Wharfedale Glendale speakers is completely different to my AKAI / Rotel receivers. Not as warm a little too clinical in places but beng 40wpc it has a bit more oomph when playing vinyl, especially as i have a MC cartridge on the Sony going to a MM input. The FM reception is incredible, pulls in signals from local stations 60-70 miles away, my modern day (2009) Marantz AV amp can't match it for toffee!!!

I must admit, I really wish I had room for a 'vintage' setup.

The only reason one needs a large house I'd like a hifi room or three, inside workshop as well as an outside workshop. More sensibly I need to sell some kit

I moved into a 4 storey house near centre of Doncaster last year, I have a family music room in the back next to kitchen, Then in attic rooms i have 10'x10' room just for me and my other vintage hifi equipment. I also have an office with a TT/Receiver & CDP, so i guess im really lucky.
We have a cellar but my better half has filled it with gym equipment, at the moment i can't seem to get her to put that crap in the garage and let me have it!!! life is so unfair!!

Hah ! Despite the protestations of the boss she is just as bad as me.
I used to make the mistake of spotting stuff on Ebay, usually furniture and asking her if I should bid. Always "yes"
In family joke: When she goes with son to look at a house for him to buy "You should put in an offer on this" every single time

My Mrs is unbelievably tolerant of my hifi gear but a music room would be awesome when we move ...

I have 'my' room you have seen. Recently the boss comes in to sit with me much more. That means either the volume comes down or in a some cases I stop the music. Underworld - Moaner yesterday. "how can you listen to that ?!"

I didn't realise that was your room Mike - do you have a separate living room?
