Being used to treat all sorts including chronic long term pain. The analytical Phil Hammond rates it very highly. That in itself is a huge recommendation
NHS siteOverview Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems. How CBT works CBT is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle. CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts. You're shown how to change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel. Unlike some other talking treatments, CBT deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on issues from your past. It looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis. I attended CBT classes a few years ago when things were going a bit pair shaped, and whilst I was a bit sceptical, I found it to be very useful and still use a lot of the techniques in my day-to-day life.

I'm a believer in working on the brain.
Works for me.
Taken to its ultimate, probably is Tony Robbins. His "Personal power" can be picked up dead cheap on Ebay and well worth a punt. Highly recommended

I love Tony Robbins too. His teachings have had a very profound effect on our lives. The transformation in our finances, lifestyles and mindsets was almost instantaneous, but it has also been lasting.
CBT is slightly different in emphasis compared to NLP (or Tony's NAC)! In that the former focuses explicitly on the conscious mind, but they are all cut from the same cloth.
If you've found Tony's work beneficial, Mike, might I suggest you take a look at the work of Dr Wayne Dyer. He was a student of Maslow and his won works started from a very similar standpoint to NLP/CBT and his first hit book "Your Erroneous Zones" is still a classic. As he matured and learned, Wayne found his own place with a more spiritual/holistic take on things, which I have found to be the biggest inspiration of my life. If you fancy dipping your toes in his later work, "Being in Balance" is a beautiful place to start. The hardback copy is a thing of beauty that feels special as soon as it sits in your hands. Wherever I travel, I carry this book with me.

Thanks.
Have read Wayne Dyer and think I agreed with what he said. Will try to find the books of his I have. May also have some audio by him.
Did you go to a Tony Robbins weekend ? Quite an event !

I haven't been to an event of Tony's yet, but I'm sure I will one day. Probably sooner rate than later, as I plan to see more of the USA anyway. My biggest regret is not meeting Wayne Dyer in the flesh His audio stuff is good too, but it couldn't match meeting him. He was a truly special human being,
Depending on your perspective, you may also get something from two other sources: One is Ed Lester and the other is Esther and Jerry Hicks. Might be a bit "out there" for some but I have no doubts left that it woks.
I will certainly attend one of Ed's events in the future. Not that expensive in themselves, but he's based in New Zealand and that's a bit of a hike.

I'd completely missed that event. He's clearly advance seven further if he's playing Wembley. Good on him.

If anyone has the sheer energy to transform a massive crowd, it's Tony Robbins. I only wish he'd Beenda essential part of the school curriculum when I was a kid. I was mod 30s when I discovered him. Never too late though.

Agreed. Staggering performance and charisma.
Plus a fair bit of energy to do what he does 3 days in a row on the weekend events
