Has anyone had to deal with the last wishes of someone else? I have had to take care of one for a friend of mine only this week. He is going back next week to spend his last days at a property he bought abroad after being diagnosed with an aggressive terminal illness. When I went to visit him earlier this week, he mentioned to me that he fancied some of the 12 year old El Dorado rum that I once poured him. It's a fabulous tasting rum, so I can quite imagine that he remembered it. So I ordered a bottle online and took it to him today. The bottle is going with him, and he hopes to share it with a few friends. Two years ago I was asked to take a friend out for dinner at a Turkish restaurant as a last wish. He passed away about 4 months later. All this has had me thinking about what others have been asked for or to do as a last wish by someone.

Would do what I could for friends.
Not sure for me. Perhaps a night in London looking around at places I know

My first wife's last wish, which we discussed in some detail, was that I see our son (then 7) to manhood and happiness. I was no great dad and lacked the user manual on 'how to be a father' but I did my best and we have had some very good times together. I'm proud to say that he has just been promoted to Global Analytics Manager with a blue chip corporate, which at the age of 25 is quite something.
My last wish will be to visit the hill in Malvern where we spread her ashes by a tree struck by lightning one more time. It's quite a climb and I hope I'll be able to make it. It always feels peaceful up there.

What a thought provoking thread Stan . At first it made me feel a bit sad , it is however important to look after friends who ask us for a final favour , isn't it . Well done for being a true friend when needed .
I will have to think about this one and will revisit when I see it coming up .
