Volumio is worth a thread all to itself
Google just sent me a message saying I have a security issue. Investigated
Volumio is the problem. Others will or have already had this problem.
Probably fine but what if not ?

Beware of anyone who tells you that you have a security issue.

Beware of anyone who tells you that you have a security issue. Agree with Chris 100% , the majority of notices that warn you about security issues are fake, my Dad fell into this trap last year and allowed someone to remote control his machine (which resulted in a challenging cleanup process).

Looks kosher.
They said there was one issue. Highlighted Volumio with the option to cancel it.

Can be accessed directly from Google settings if anyone else has the message. I've left Volumio on

Google Chrome is starting to warn users of any site not using SSL (https). Since Volumio.local is inside your network ( effectively, an intranet) there is no security issue.

Best way to drive Volumio ?
Use my laptop. Issues Have to turn on and boot up to access it, long winded sometimes. Oe reason to stick with CDs ! Often forget to pause when I leave for a while and have to bring the laptop back on again - even more long winded or leave playing, not what I want. I believe Spotty allows up us to 3 devices so I'm being sure before I install on other devices. As the iPad usually comes up fast I could use that - or do I at last have a use for an iPhone, using that to drive it ?

No, Chrome is the problem. Google just unilaterally decided it would distrust any site that isn't secure. Volumio is effectively an intranet (for inside the subnet only) and can be trusted.

Have to turn on and boot up to access it, long winded sometimes. You don't need to shut down the laptop every time. Just put it to sleep, it'll wake up within seconds. You can also use the phone or any device to quickly access Volumio and stop playback.

Must have been hibernating. Will go looking. Roughly what are the power differences between Sleep and Hibernate ? As I might use Sleep all the time, leave overnight or for hours at a time iPad may not be needed now

Sleep keeps it in a very low power standby. Hibernates saves the current state and powers off.
Set Hibernation to only come on after, e.g. 6 hours of Sleep and you'll be fine.

Even later
Checked settings. Close lid gives sleep but Sleep after closing the lid takes much longer to come back up. Different types of sleep ?
