Well, you need the chat that will go along the lines of you understand that kids like to party. All you are asking for is advance notice and that they finish at a reasonable hour. If they don’t want to comply, mention that you have done some research, they are breaking the law and that if it continues you will be left with no option but to contact the council. State that you do not want to do this, but it is an option if they do not respect your simple request.

Motorsport ear plugs Mike! The highest dB cut foam ones you can get.
Make sure your ears are properly clear of wax or you will compact and be deaf for days!
Most people don't know how to put ear plugs in properly and have them sticking mostly out.
Foam ones should be sucked to be small in diameter and quickly worked into the ear canal. Aided by lifting your lug ol' vertically up with the other hand / arm over your head. Put them all the way in but not so far you lose them or they touch your ear drum. You can now walk into the F1 pits when they are engine testing. (V12 Ferrari of old included) and enjoy the limited noise at very close up proximity. A gig nextdoor should not be a problem. Nor should sleeping with them in. You get used to them..
Avoid the over priced aluminium or even titanium cored ones.. You can't sleep on them.

Or ones used in the Aviation industry. Good advice from Steve. There are sites on the web that show you the reduction levels for each plug, and also offer sample packs so you can see what suits you best.

Ordered some cheap 37db ones to see how they work. Move up if they aren't good.

Perhaps try a bit of less intrusive Fargo stuff first. Pigs blood in the shower, plague of locusts through the letter box..

No way would I be wearing ear plugs in my own home. For one thing they increase bacteria levels in your ears and raise the chances of infection. Aggression isn't my first weapon of choice but I woul deal with these people in the most ruthless ways available to me. I'd do all I could to make it in their interests to either behave or move, I'm not advocating this to anyone else, just saying what my response would be.

Both me and the boss want a quiet time so avoid confrontation. Still working on the email words and hardening my attitude.

Personally, if the parents don't want to listen and it continues I would just call the council in straight away. You have tried to be reasonable. I would just take action now.

I remember an electrical engineer I worked with in the 60s. He was teed off with his neighbour making noise so he built a modified, unshielded signal generator which fed noise into next door's system. Not sure how that works or if it still would.

I asked my brother-in-law about your predicament earlier today (he used to be a Police Officer)and he said you’d have to take it it up with the council as the Police are too busy and understaffed so won’t do much. He recommended what you’re doing at the moment as a first cause of action and then if need be record everything in any manner you can including times etc. and raise it with the Council.

Since post no. 2 we have been recommending the reporting of this to the Council. It's their job!

I remember an electrical engineer I worked with in the 60s. He was teed off with his neighbour making noise so he built a modified, unshielded signal generator which fed noise into next door's system. Not sure how that works or if it still would. It would basically create broad spectrum Radio Frequency noise and interfere with anything using RF. Back then they would have had interference problems with any radios and perhaps TV depending on frequencies his generator spat out. We had a boiler overheat thermostat where the switch got noisy and would take about 30 secs to shut off. During that time it would totally interfere with all the radios in our house and presumably next doors house! Didn't affect the TV, so was VHF not UHF. Nowadays you could jam their WiFi. How many people listen to VHF radios? Not sure what you'd need to do to jam 2/3/4G signals. Wouldn't work on cable TV / broadband. Wufi would cause some chaos esp if they were streaming their objectional music to their phone as a player. I guess if you jammed during and only during their noisy periods, they might put 2 and 2 together. They could report you.. But 2 wrongs don't make a right do they. Second thought, build an EMP generator and zap everything in their property, nothing would work. Cars, phones, pacemakers, the lot
