Hi, My name’s Ben, from Gloucester. Have been an occasional lurker here for a while. a quick overview of kit preferences: I’m a big fan of Colin Wonfor’s amps (especially the SECA ones) and his cables, and I like big speakers with big woofers (I enjoyed building my own 3 ways last summer). I use mainly a media PC as a source. Music-wise I enjoy blues, 50s and 60s jazz, 70s funk and reggae, and 80s and 90s indie, hip-hop and electronica. Also, I’m a moderator on the audiochews forum. Looking forward to making the most of things here. :-)

Hi Ben, Welcome to The Audio Standard. I recognise the name and avatar from somewhere else. It's always great when a lurker steps out!
Looking forward to hearing more from you. Cheers

Cheers Chris, thanks for the warm welcome. And yes, sometimes feels a little voyeuristic lurking in those shadows! So, I’m feeling good to have made the effort of joining and stepping out!

Thanks for the photo, Ben. Are your speakers based on a known design? I like moving air, too!

Thanks for the photo, Ben. Are your speakers based on a known design? I like moving air, too! I’m uneasy with the notion that they are “designed”...! :-D They’re really just an improvisation on a Goodmans Magister theme. I’d been working on a pair of those and wondered whether I could put together a similarly sealed enclosure using an18 inch woofer and more modern mids and tweeters. (I used Goodmans recommendation of a 120 litre cabinet for the 18P.)

Hello Ben
You find a nice mix of decent folk here.
I'm originally from Cheltenham so not that far away.

Hello Ben You find a nice mix of decent folk here. I'm originally from Cheltenham so not that far away. So far, utterly decent. I’ve felt very welcomed. Thanks. Cheltenham - Yes, from here that’s just over the tracks (on the posh side). I remember after the floods of 2007 there was no running water in Cheltenham or Gloucester. In Cheltenham it was all Union jacks and community spirit: Pimms parties around the water bowsers. In contrast, here in Gloucester it was like Mad Max. Where are you now, Tony?

Enjoy the forum!
I used to have a white cat and he was my great listening partner. Loved a sesh in the seat and was a big Leonard Cohen fan.

Making back from from our home cinema suite which was based in Ross, coming up the M50 following a large Army truck wake, in the works Citroen with the suspension set to high as the water was two foot plus on between J2 and J1! Just made it back that day, damp but home! We moved to Buckinghamshire in 2010 but enough distance from London to have a pleasant surroundings but close enough to get to quickly if required. Though today its one of those gloomy windy days that is not inviting at all.
