You should move to Battersea. I hear they need a new supervisor.

You should move to Battersea. I hear they need a new supervisor. We had an issue with Battersea I'm sorry to say A few years back, finding out about their longest stay dog at 2 years an almost blind Staffie we took a selection of our pack to meet and confirm all ok. Having a fenced garden and a pack for guidance we thought a good fit for a blind dog. Two staff looked us over and said we couldn't take him as Rosie, one of our dogs, from Battersea was too aggressive*, no and our pack was too dependent*, no. What ?! Don't think I'd fit in at Battersea with their odd attitudes *Full chapter and verse if required

Twas a disappointment and reflected badly on Battersea. We had been surveyed by one of their local people. Had Rosie from them, but they seemed intent on finding a reason for keeping the dog there - where he was going stir crazy, poor bugger He was taken shortly after, but then returned 12 months later

Places change when personnel change - you might get a completely different experience there now, but of course understand the frustration.

Buttons - a story of 2 dogs Funny little thing. Weirder than the photo above Picked up 10am last Wednesday. Settled in well. Some toilet mistakes but looking very good by as soon as Thursday. Very fast Sunday marked a huge change and what seems like deliberate peeing in the house. Monday check up at our vets. Teeth bad and they had a slot on Tuesday so in she goes, fighting the lead she has probably never seen before *Eighteen* teeth removed. 18 ! Stunning. Poor little thing. Inexplicably lively today. Because she has all that muck out of her ? Seems ok peeing outside too. Fingers crossed Endearing, manic, friendly, weird. She should fit in well

Going well so far. A few minor issues and some pack dynamics changed
Hosting 2 extra dogs for a week as well, not my choice, but even that is ok Hard work over months and years has given a stable pack
Now, there is Dave the Dachshund needing a home....

MikeMusic I think you would have liked this cafe - the main part was full when we went so ended up in the dog's house!

Been an 'interesting' time with the three new dogs
If you are thinking of getting a (one) dog there will be some work to do. Depending on the back ground could be very little or a bit more
The new 3 lacked toilet training so that has been ongoing. From a pack of 19 with very little instruction Best way seems to be to take them into the garden every hour or so, reward when they perform and be quick with the shovel to take away what could easily become their next meal...
Judy just had her dental. 5 teeth out which is more than I thought and hoped for.
The individual and pack dynamics change almost every day. Fascinating to see it happen

Fascinating to see it happen We got Jackson, seen in my profile picture, exactly one year ago. He was 3 years old when we got him. It took 10 months before he started to show who he actually was after being moved to a new family... For example, he wasn´t interested in sticks the first 10 months. Now he wants every stick he can find. Food has been a constant struggle since he sometimes doesn´t want to eat. With time we have started to understand that it is OK if he sometimes doesn´t want to eat and we don´t need to worry. I have done 98% of all the dog walking, which was not meant to be the case... But I actually found that I love it. In the beginning I always listened to music but now a day´s I don´t and instead listen when I get home again. I love having a dog in the family, including having to get out! Edit: I forgot to mention that some dogs are not exactly audiophile compatible! My dog makes constant noise, regardless of what he does or doesn´t do....

Some dogs like to eat at what seems odd to us. They usually make up for it Dog walking preserves human life. I enjoy it too. The birdsong at the moment is great, sometime magical

Sometimes on my dog walks I take music with me. Today it is a beautiful early summer day, perfect for a long walk. Inspired by a post in another thread today by MartinT I started listening to Santana - Abraxas. It made me realize that you sometimes need to go back to these classics to re-calibrate your thoughts on what amazing really means... As Martin stated, this is certainly up there amongst the very best albums (in my opinion). When it ended I was in a perfect rock mode and I selected U.F.O - Strangers in the night. Again, I realized that I should revisit these obvious classics more often because they make me really happy and alive feeling. I was easily up for Led Zepelin - IV by this time but our French bulldog had enough of walking. One thing that took me by surprise was how incredible enjoyable both these albums sounded on my Airpods Max (Qobuz). To be honest I have started to really dislike them recently because they sometimes sounds hilariously bad for some type of music (timbre mostly which makes classical music unlistenable, for example). But one thing that is really enjoyable is the very fast mid bass, that makes the kickdrums and bass guitar pop. I think it suited these albums very well and adds to a more "physical" Rock & Roll feeling and I couldn´t really find anything obvious to complain about, sound quality wise. Before we got the dog, one year ago, I didn´t take these long walks on regular basis. To me they have been amazing for my well being, with or without music.

Yes sometimes only those classic albums will do the job!
