I got a Schiit 'Mani' Phonostage but the Power supply i do not trust for long term reliability! Anyone know of a beefy jobbie? Its 16V A.C, preferably one with a Power switch save me farting about with the switch at the back of the unit!! cos id rather hide it away & not look at the ugly piece of Schiit

AC power supplies are more difficult to find and are mostly just a step-down transformer. There's little to fail if it's properly specified for the job. You could insert an in-line switch into the power supply cable if you want to turn it off?

Subject to confirmation, couldn't you make up a chunky 12V-AC* transformer supply? I made a small one for my MF X10-D to the Rock Grotto spec (I think the page has gone now) using a fully potted toroid from RS similar to this one which is totally silent, but rather more expensive than the similar VA-sized ones I sometimes use for work -
uk.rs-online.com/web/p/toroidal-transformers/2238544/
I think the secondary's were paralleled up rather than giving a plus and minus voltage. In my case, a switched IEC socket on the back and outputting via an internal chocolate block and fuse to a 2.5mm DC plug as M-F used - case was a common abs project box. I made this many years ago and long before I did this kind of thing for a living...
* memories of measuring the output voltage are old now, but I think the 12V transformer wired the way it is, gives around 14 - 15VAC on the output. Mine is a 30VA transformer, but knowing what I know now, you could easily overkill to 120VA size in a bigger Hammond style project box? I'm assuming regulators are in the Mani itself...
P.S. Forgive me if the suggestion above is total crap for the Mani. I didn't think a larger transformer was needed for IC based op-amps either...
Rock Grotto do an AC supply specified at 12V @ 30VA for the MF X series of boxes. I think one of them can be specified for 15V (I think it's one of the AC ones), so bearing in mind the price is better than the posher looking £200 jobbie I've seen, if it floats yer boat, why not email and ask - he's a friendly chap and seems to have 'ears' if his X10-D update kits and choice of upgrade valves is anything to go by

Paul Hynes once told me that Multicomp are the best of the reasonably priced toroid brands. You should be able to get what you need from Farnell, plus a case to put it in.
