It's been a while since I documented my Hifi anywhere, mainly because my journey has ended... I've given up chasing improvements, largely as I'd rather spend the money on more cameras, but also because I just like how it sounds now. Source: Mac mini with jriver/integer out. I also use spotify, more than I should Dac: Naim dac-v1 - most people tell me I could have had a better dac had I not bought one with a green logo on the front, but then amusingly none of the people who have said that have heard my Hifi, or indeed even heard the naim dac (that's the other reason I gave up on the hobby ... ) ... It's the best dac I've ever owned, sounds superb, does everything I need, and is quite neatly, the same width as a Mac mini Amp and speakers: Adam tensor epsilon - fully active jobbers. And that's the lot, neat, tidy, sounds good, the wife doesn't hate it too much and the daughter can't help but dance when I put it on

Job done, Hamish!
Naim, eh? ..... hmmmmmm .....
I've a very good friend who swears by (not at) his Naim DAC.
Oooo - and I bet those Adam active speakers are lovely - I've always been hugely impressed by the make at Shows.
Go on, how about a pic or two for us to ogle at.

Hi Hamish
For you this is the correct system. You are young with a young family and don't have a silver spoon in your mouth ! Vinyl, valves, real coal fires, slippers and a pipe are a long way from where you are now. Just play the music..................
I have a music server and would have bought the Mac Mini too, but I needed to rip 100's of CD's and they dropped the CD drive, now a friend has given me another few hundred CD's ! So I'm using a tiny professional Dell.
This weekend we had 4 generations of family here and the ability to select almost anything for anyone from my iPhone was wonderful !

Nice, simple, setup Hamish. Didn't you have an Akurate or similar once upon a time?
Now then, for such a magic photographer it's about time you work on your avatar. Go on, surprise us!

No pics of the gear -- well I guess you're one of those folks who don't have a camera handy, Hamish.

Hi Hamish,
similar position to you (very different equipment though), I enjoy what I hear and don't worry about "upgrading"/changing any more.
Bye the way though - is that a turntable lurking by the plant?

It is, though it's not plugged in and any parts a 3yr old might break are on a shelf out of the reach of said 3yr old. It's a pioneer PL-600x, the direct drive metal one, not the 600 which is plastic belt drive I pic I found from just after I got it
