Gosh, It's hard to say because I've had so many systems and combos, Changes of kit were almost weekly at my place for many years. Most of those items in that list I've had several times. I think at last count I'd had 45 pairs of Linn Kans! Likewise, I've had so many Linn, Naim and Exposure amps, I've lost count. I've also switched between flat earth and valve amp/efficient speakers a good few times. I don't really prefer one of the other. I guess I just enjoyed the variety Sadly, I can't indulge in box swapping anymore, now that I've left the UK altogether. I have bought the odd thing and sent to a mate, but I won't be able to collect things until I fly back for some reason. Even then I'm limited by luggage allowance and available space here.

Long story, but my first pair were something special, which I struggled to match with subsequent ones, so it turned into a quest.
Linn made many revisions to the Kan and there were also changes to the supplied drivers. This means many different-sounding incarnations. I wanted to go through every single one but I also found variations in sound between ones that should have been identical. I've come close to that magical first pair on a couple of occasions and also found other incarnations I really liked.

I Had a very early pair of 'KANS' when i had the Onix 'OA21' amp.. I actually preferred them to the Audiomaster 'LS3/5a' i also had.. I could never live with anything like that now. I hunger for deep bass.

I tried a pail of 'IBL but i found there was no more Bass in em than my old Audiomaster 'LS3/5a.. But i liked em.. The first pair I had sounded terrible. I was using an Arcam Alpha CD and Naim 42.5/140, which really didn't suit them. Subsequent pairs taught me just how fussy about partnering equipment and setup they are. Get it right though, and they can be breathtaking. The leaf suspension on that tweeter gives them an edge in detail over the SBL. I had both at once and compare them. I'd love DBLs some day. Im really glad to have the Tma3 back with me. It's a design classic. I just love the layout, but I'm a midnight blue fan.

I'm sorry to say but the Naim DBL are some of the worst speakers I've ever heard, on multiple occasions. Shockingly bad.

I cannot get on with Naim speakers at all, I don't like any of them. I respect the fact that others do, but they are not for me.

I'm sorry to say but the Naim DBL are some of the worst speakers I've ever heard, on multiple occasions. Shockingly bad. Ive never heard them, bar an outstanding YouTube video. I sincerely hope I get the chance to own a pair. Past experience with Naim speakers has taught me they can be heaven or hell depending on how you use them. I have liked every single thing Julian Vereker saw merit in, so I have enough curiosity to pursue hearing what he was aiming for with the DBL. if if I ever do return to the UK, the ONLY reason will be to pursue my un-fulfilled hifi ambitions BTW I'm being serious. It's the only thing that makes me unsure I will live overseas for the rest of my days. DBLs will be a big part of that, so I hope I don't find I end up agreeing with Martin!

No. Multiple and active I think, but I didn't take much notice and they've been different at different times.

Some nice kit there southall1998 - the MS10is I remember well. Had them and the 25i (I think). Those AE1s still appeal but hold their price well and I'm a big Audio Note fan too.

I am emotionally attached to a Naim CD3.5 and B&W P4 speakers that I bought new in 1997 (my god, 21 years ago). The speakers were in regular use for all that time up to summer of 2017. Can not bear to part with them even now after discovering the merits of sealed enclosures, isobaric bass loading, 12" woofers and semi Omni design. The Naim CD3.5 has also been in constant use for the last 21 years - i'm listening to it now What brings the emotional attachment here is the amount of modification I have done - new clock & dedicated psu, upgraded regulators, added regulators & gyrators, separate dac psu, anologue stage psu, OPA627 opamps in the output stage and lots of other bits and bobs. Long live the 3.5. I have another in stock form to compare to and another spare transport if the unthinkable happens - mine is still going strong on the original Stu

OPA627 opamps in the output stage Good op-amps, those. I put a set into my Pioneer PD-91 years ago and they did the biz.

I used to love the Musical Fidelity A1 that Shane mentioned - nearly bought one on a number of occasions! Sounded stunning fed by a Rock turntable ...

Myst 'TMA 3' Was a beautiful Intergraturd if i saw a mint black one crop up at a cheap price id snap it up. Immaculate layout inside. My LP12. Myst TMA3, Myst TMR and Linn Kans. All bought in 1987 as our first "extravagant and luxury" purchase prior to moving into our first house. I would never get rid of them.... Incidentally all are still working fine.

I can imagine that being a truly satisfying system. With 31 years under its belt, I guess it's proven itself to be just that.
Over the years, I've had umpteen pairs of Kans, many LP12s and a handful of Tma3/Tmrs, but I've never ran a Tma3 into Kans. I really wish I had tried that combo because I did compare Tma3 with Exposure X through ES14s at home. The Tma3 was better in every way (and I really like Exposure amps) Oddly it's never occurred to me to try a Myst with Kans.
It did give me a real liking for Exposure speaker cable though, which really suited the Myst: As did Linn K20.
I actually have a Tma3 in my 2nd system right now, I just love the looks, design, feel and sound. Back in 1987 the Tma3 was my first upgrade from a Cyrus One and I had it a few years, during which it gave me loads of pleasure. This one will be with me for life. It just feels like it belongs. Wish I still had the MC board that I had with my first Tma3 though.
