Yes your DAC would need a USB input or a converter

You’ll need to set the correct output on the pc (assuming windows). Right click on the speaker icon bottom right and go into playback devices. The dac may need a driver, depends which it is.

Before you go the USB route check the back of your PC for an optical output. Many PCs have them these days.

Looking at the inputs (unless the pictures are wrong), you will need an optical or co-axial output from your PC. It looks like the USB (micro) input is just for 5V DC to power the DAC. So if your intention is to plug a standard USB cable into your PC and into this, my guess is no it won't work. You will need an optical to USB converter as well. This unit appears to be designed for connecting a TV/DVD/Skybox or similar to an amplifier (as outlined in the product description). "Neoteck 192kHz Aluminum DAC Converter Digital Optical Coaxial To slink to Analog Stereo Left/Right RCA 3.5mm Jack Audio Converter Adapter for PS3 Xbox HD DVD PS4 Sky HD Plasma Blu-ray Home Cinema"So in answer to your original question "Hi Guy's I just wanted to ask if I was to run a usb cable from my pc to a dac would that give me sound from the pc ?." the answer is yes, but you need to buy the right DAC, as unfortunately this doesn't appear to be what you are looking for.

Tim is correct in his observations Either get a usb converter or if not to late a usb based dac

I would look for a second hand one of these Often available on music forums, eBay and Gumtree, superb sound and powered by the USB port, so extremely simple and tidy. I have the original one which is a different shape to that. I prefer it. People need to read up about them because they have some very clever design not you regular streamers.
