I've just bought a back-lit keyboard and a magnetic bracelet in the CyberMonday sale, which is the same as the Black Friday sale, except it's now Tuesday. Both were what I consider to be bargains. The keyboard I needed and the bracelet I've been wanting to try for ages (wife had a pacemaker so it was a no-no for ages). Whether the bracelet will help with my joint pain is anyone's guess, but enough people seem to swear by them to make it worth a try. I'm perfectly happy to accept the healing power of the placebo effect.

I wish the Americans would take back all they've made Halloween into, too. Another tiresome 'celebration' that we don't need.

Ahmm, blaming America for us blindly following a stupid idea is hardly the fault of the source. We're the fools for not having a brain and saying I'm not doing that (IMHO)
Likewise Black Friday, idiots all of those that can't see what a fecking fools game it is. In my book that makes us worse.

It's that time again, and here's a recommendation from me. If you need to update your e-reader, instead of shelling out eighty-five quid on the most basic of Amazon Kindles, grab an Amazon Fire HD 8" tablet and install the (free) Kindle app. The 32Gb version " without adverts" is my choice, and is currently selling for for £51.99. It's quite a decent tablet as well as an e-reader, and storage is expandable up to 1 TB. You also get 3 months free " Kindle Unlimited" with your purchase. If you think you need more onboard storage, the 64Gb version is £81.99, but if you're simply going to use it as an e-reader, as I do, 32Gb is probably all you'll ever need. If you're prepared to piut up with Amazon's adverts, you can knock another tenner off of the price(s). smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B82XKNPX

Never really bothered with black Friday bollox, however this week I bagged two.
One can never have two many scopes so I bagged what can only be described as a barmy deal for pretty decent upper mid range scope still pinching myself managed 42% off a new 4Ghz bw 20G/s model that also came with a seriously large memory upgrade, software and a probe I don't own.
Let enough in the R&D kitty to acquire a new streaming digital transport. Can't complain this year

All Alpro long-life plant-based drinks are on offer with Amazon's Black Friday deals. I've just bought a case of my preferred solution, " Alpro No Sugars Long Life Oat Drink 1L", at £11.79 for 8 cartons, which works out at -£1.48 each, as opposed to £2.15 in Sainsbury's. There should be at least 6 - 8 months shelf ife on them. All varieties - smile.amazon.co.uk/deal/fa0ae62a&showVariations=true/Over to Sainsbury's now, to cancel the carton I'd already ordered for the weekend. [EDIT] Scratch that, next week Sainsbury's are dropping the price to £1.35 per carton. Amazon cancelled, 8 cartons from JS instead, for £10.80.

These are the ones I bought for my son last Xmas. Is that " these" and you've forgotten the link, or " those," and it's a typo, Jules?

Does it count that I put yet another " silly" bid in at eBay and got it accepted ...again? I now own a new guitar effects pedal, and yes, of course I needed " another" one, and it make some briliant noises. "The Abyss" - at 3:22 - is particularly lovely, as is "The Kraken" at 6:48 in the video.

Nice I've had a few silly bids win me things that never should have gone so low There is the thought that maybe you can have *enough* effects pedals - not that I would say that, no sir

I thought Paul might pick up one of these. That video is crap. Here's one by an amateur guitarist whose "ambient" channel I follow, playing the pedal properly. Even so, at over £600.00 I not only couldn't afford it, but I wouldn't buy it even if I could. I've got a lot of synths in my arsenal that can do much more. That's the thing, the more complicated pedals get, the more they tend towards actual synthesisers, but are also, usisally, one-trick-ponys in comparison. I was sorely tempted by this one, and it's become just about affordable, but common sense (and string synthesisers) got the better of me. If I were playing in a band, it would be a different story, and I'd already have one. It's brilliant.

I put another (very) stupid bid in last night. TBH my main thought was " well, at least it'll bump up the price a bit for the seller". Nope. Woke up this morning to " congratulations," and I've got another new pedal. New Year's Resolution - No more silly eBay bids.
