This name keeps popping up. I know someone on here uses the Passive Pre amp but anyone used the Phono stage? Regarding the Passive, i am not too keep on the look of the Potentiometer & probably something i would change. What i do like is the selectable Attenuation & a configurable output as a tape loop that would allow me to use use my Headphone amp, bypassing the Pre Volume control.. Passive Pre

Not heard it but must say that is a neat looking unit - fully adjustable for any MC or MM for £139 looks good value to me ... let us know if you take the plunge.

It IS a neat looking thing, but I don't like the attenuator they use. I bought two for my own first home made passive pre, didn't like the sound overmuch (it's a subtle blanding out for some reason) and replaced them first with mono versions of the little pots I use for work which I thought were much better. latterly, I replaced these with some trad looking 25k log film pots I bought in a lot for the Crown D-60's I was restoring.

Thats what i was saying further up, i dont like the Pot in the Pre..
Ive had this A&R 'A60' since 1983/4. Been using it on & off for the phono stage, time for a new stage to use.

That phono stage is cheap enough but no knowledge at all. the Rega Fono A-D is ok for the money and possibly the best of the sub £100 types and the Schiit Mani is also well liked at the £160 price point. Staying local to me, although I don't know it, the Angle Audio stages used to be well received too.
