Last week i woke up in the morning to find i could hardly walk. Turns out i have torn one of the Quadracepts. Its an utter nightmare, cannot bend my knee which feel like its packed with concrete lol. I still have no idea how i have done this as i do no sport, but i do lift heavy weight at work..
I just cannot believe how much this hampers you every day life. Doctors says rest, but i gotta work so i bought a a knee brace & hope this helps. This time of year is the time for a lot of overtime at work, shit when you cant go on the sick.
Anyone else had trouble with a leg muscle?

I have had a weird leg muscle problem a couple of times in the last ten years. It is so painful, I end up bed ridden for at least a week. Once it lasted nearly three week.

Last Christmas I tore both patella tendons...so below the knee rather than above. 2 weeks of agony, 4 more weeks of difficulty and 5 months before I was right. These problems can be very debilitating....good luck with your quads!

Wow guys, you all have me worried. For me it's my upper thighs that give up first, but that's the diabetes talking.

In my case it was being hit by a pedal bike...the rider ignored a red light. It's hard to describe the pain, I could not bend my legs so getting to hospital in a car as a passenger was tough. Having been in A&E I then got a call to go back to the hospital asap. It's worrying when the NHS start calling you saying you need urgent care....they were worried the tendons could become detached.

Ripped ligaments in the left knee gave me pain for many years. All started off by being instructed to do damn silly bunny hops in an Aikido class by a guy that didn't know what he was doing. Found cycling eventually which built up the thighs to help the knee. It's around 90% now, but I cannot push it.
Exercises and cycling keep the boy, notably knees and back out of trouble most of the time.
Swimming is often good as you can move around without load bearing

Fractured nec-femu 46 places, three years in hospital (sliding skeletal traction), 6 months in a coma, its a little stiff to move on cold mornings however having a quality mains conditioner helps to jump start my leg on those damp days!

Best way I've found to recover from an injury is to get another one. It soon takes your mind off the original and usually aids your recovery. Sod's law I guess

Genuinely do not remember anything from November 5th 1986 to April 14th 1987 other than a rather attractive young lady asking if I was feeling ok when I came round. I feel its the body's way of self repairing to a degree, within two weeks I was placed on a trauma ward and rather a lot of traction. Then I was just close to three years before I attempted to walk again. Just prior to my accident I was in pretty decent physical condition, and could easily leg press over 300Kg regularly, then after walking up, I remember the physio remarking it was time to start working my good leg (but severally muscle wasted leg due to all that in activity) she put a pair of oven gloves over my ankle and popped two single one pound weights in either side, I laughed and smile, however could I lift my good leg up, not a chance! Took nearly another six months before I could stand on it with my bad leg horizontal in traction, very odd sight, but a great relief. I consider myself very lucky to be alive and still have my leg, also after the first couple weeks, no pain killers at all, just warfarin injections daily and a lot of frustration at not being able to move at all. Really I didn't feel ill or poorly and being honest, having something like cancer I truly believe is far worse than my situation as it takes a lot of will power as well as physical stamina to take that particular human genome. Mind you, you should have seen the Volvo 740 estate I demolished with my Kwacker GPZ100Rx just two weeks old The whole process just took so long because of the nature of injury, mind you having six new student nurses changing rotation every eight weeks was a living hell

I completely agree, I had to re-evaluate my life after the big 'C' and I'm much happier for it. I never plan more than a year ahead and have little expectation of a long life due to the effects of chemotherapy and diabetes, a nasty combination that still comes back to bite on occasion. I live for each day, get as much enjoyment out of life as possible, reject negativity around me and care little for money except to pay for the things I enjoy doing. Music is foremost in that mix.

Good luck with that, cancer is a horrible creeping disease that tries to take your dignity as well as your life.
@tonyc I hadn't realised you'd had such a traumatic episode earlier in your life. I have several biker friends, most are very careful but even so, I worry about them.
