We spent the last five days in Prague. It was a great trip and comes with my unreserved recommendation. Several posts to follow... Here's a little one to be going on with: Cityscape

The photo in the post above was taken from the viewing platform of the Prague Television Tower. It was built, not to transmit programmes, but to block TV transmissions from the West. It was finished after the Communist system finished. It was plonked into a residential area - the old Jewish quarter, which survived the war because Hitler wanted to keep it as a sort of museum to record the lifestyle of an extinct race. It was nominated as the second ugliest building in the world. The first ugliest was knocked down in 2014...! Personally, I think it is rather beautiful. In the pods, apart from telecommunications gear, there is the viewing section - the three boxes second from top. Below that, there is a restaurant and bar and a one room hotel which costs a bit under £1,000 a night.

Never been to Prague, but it's high on my list of must do's once I get all my ducks in a row I love your photographs Chris, I don't like people in mine if I can help it, unless they have meaning, or to emphasize scale - my favourite here is the black and white shot of the girl with the umbrella touching the wall/memorial?

I'm the same, Tim. I can stand around for ages waiting for the buggers to get out of shot! In this case, I stood around for ages, waiting for them to get into shot. Touching various parts of several plaques and statues that line the Charles Bridge is supposed to bring luck. They get touched a lot! In the castle grounds, there is a similar thing going on with a larger than life statue of a naked fella, one part of whose anatomy is extremely well polished!

The cathedral is very beautiful - flying buttresses galore!
The mono photo of the girl touching the stone is a stand-out shot.

Great stuff Chris. My son is very keen to go to Prague as well so I expect it will be coming up soon on our world tour of European cities ... I love the look of that Grand Hotel Europa - what an exterior!

Neither of those! It was a little place in the Zizkov District, a couple of blocks from the TV tower.
