You lost me Paul, are you saying the Beresford maybe better sounding than the Naim sound? To me and many other people, yes, significantly, Andr'e.

My Cambridge Audio CXC transport with Beresford Caiman II DAC (circa £600 for the two components) bettered my Naim NDX (circa £3500) streamer and Naim CDX2 (circa £4000) CD player by quite a margin, which is why I have sold the CD player and will be selling the streamer shortly.

Dont get me wrong, I love the Beresford but the look & build is far from my ideal.

I quite like the look of the Beresford and the build isn't bad if you consider the price. I am sure Stan could make one that was better built but it would cost a darn sight more.

It all depends what you are plugging the naims into super caps ,hi caps cabling ,earthing, active crossovers or passive, which preamps you are using power amps like 6x135's I find naims strengths to me are rhythm ,timing, overall enjoyment, nail don't do hifi they play music, foot tapping music with dynamics built for rock music, not for loads of separation ,sound jumping back and forth between the speakers .naim does not aim to impress,it just plays music,Stan dacs work really well with in a budget they do what they supposed do,I gave up years ago listening to the hifi and started listening to the music
