On a recommendation from Martin I bought a 12v 12ah battery to power my Beresford SEG dac and Headphone amp and I must say it was like listening from a mp3 to a flac or Wave file I am so impressive that i'm going through my favourite cd's again because it's more revealing, quieter background and more enjoyable so thank-you Martin, another great recommendation Not a bad Tweak for £25 for the battery and a £1.00 for the dc Pigtail ,I will not be going back to mains again for these components .

Great stuff, Tim.
We keep saying it: the SEG or Caiman-II needs to be heard with a 12V battery. SQ takes a big jump up and a small lead-acid battery only costs around £12.
Now you know why I rave about the SEG. It's an outrageously good DAC.

It Sure is Martin especially at that price.I was going to go with a smaller amperage battery but after what you and I think Chris said I thought is would be better to go with a larger Amp hour battery, turned out to be a good bet.

For you running a headphone amp too, I agree.

I might try this, which battery and lead did you go for?
Do you keep it on charge ( if so what do you use to charge it ) or do you only charge when flat?
Any info would be great, ta.

I have mine on a timer to only charge for an hour a night. It's plenty, and ensures that the DAC is only getting battery power when listening.
Look for 12V Yuasa battery on eBay, there are loads. It doesn't need to be big for the SEG.

Interesting Martin, does the timer have any adverse impact on the sound of the battery, because I presume you have it connected into the timer all of the time?
Glad the battery has worked out for you, Tim, I use one with my Caiman II and was simply astounded by the difference it made to the sound of the DAC when I first put it into the system.

No impact at all - when the timer is off, power is disconnected.

This is the battery I bought tinyurl.com/y7d82wopAnd this is the cable tinyurl.com/ybv59b84The cable I bought was from China so it will take at least 2 weeks to get here,if you buy else where make sure you get a 5.5mmx 2.1mm dc pigtail and either buy connectors or alligator clips for the battery side. Hope this helps.

Ive been using a big car battery for a few years, fed by a big camper van solar panel. It can power a dac/t amp mono blocks/hpa quite happily in the summer but needs an occasional charge in the winter.
Ive been on the mains for a while, but at the weekend plumbed in a mini t and BM2-I had forgotten just how quiet battery power is. The BM2 as HPA/DAC is really quite good. My son has my Caiman 2 so I might just treat myself to a SEG.
Battery power is fantastic bang for buck.
