Hello everyone,
Newcomer here but I am active on a few other forums.
Looking forward to hopefully learning more, debating more & sharing more within my overall indulgence in music, gear & other interesting topics.
Thanks
Paul

Thanks guys.
Music, well it it can be almost anything to tell you the truth, if it rocks my boat then it is good to go.
If I had to pin down my favourite genre whilst growing up it would be the 1967-1972 west coast scene.
Favourite band(s) : Love / Spirit
Favourite album(s) : Forever Changes / 12 Dreams of Dr Sardonicus
Soft spot for Porcupine Tree & Rory Gallagher though on recent revisits.
Favourite demo track : Atmosphere by Joy Division ( probably the best recorded track I have heard by far, lives up to its' name)

Hello Paul, welcome to TAS.
Agreed on Spirit. One of the best bands ever. Should have been much more well know than they were. Never quite got Love. Love Rory not so keen on Porcupine Tree.
Have a look at the artists in my sig, below to see if anything looks good

Love was just a vehicle for Arthur Lee in all honesty, the earlier members were integral to it all initially, he was controversial but composed some classic stuff. The fact it took 20+ years for Forever Changes to be recognised for what it is today maybe explains the lack of success they should have had.
Spirit to me were a complete band, with so much influence from different musical genres into the melting pot, it was criminal that they did not become a lot more popular than they ever did.
I had the fortune to see Love before Arthur Lee died, it stays with me always as a truly magical moment.
Some interesting bands there Mike, Tangerine Dream especially.

Hi Paul, lots of Paul's joining here recently We're currently asking members to participate in the next round of Album Choice, which runs fortnightly, so if you're interested in joining in and to sharing some discussion about an album of your choice, that would be great. If you feel like joining in, either let me know by PM or via the Album Choice discussion thread here.

Welcome. Rory Gallagher When Jimmy Hendrix was asked, what's it like to be the world best guitarist? He is reported to have said, "I don't know, ask Rory Gallagher".

Welcome Mr AV8 - I've realised I don't know Spirit at all so I'll be checking them out, thanks for the tip... You have been missing out on a real treat, try Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus Clear Son of Spirit Spirit of 76 The Family that plays together just the very best I also love Kaptain Kopter and the Fabulous Twirlybirds by Randy California, a big part of Spirit

Quicksilver!
There's a great story that Deke Leonard from Man told about when he met John Cippolina from QMS. He asked him to prove who he was by playing what Deke had tried endlessly to copy and failed. The sound he had come to know as 'The Growl' - a particular guitar sound from this track (5 minutes 8 sec or so in).
