I was just musing whilst watching T in the park....
what happens if September's vote goes for independance vis the good old BBC. Presumably not being part of Britain the Scots wont have to cough up a license fee and theoretically BBC Scotland might not exist and the transmitters will be switched off. Will they(the Scots) be able to eavesdrop on transmitters over the border, or even forced to watch on I player.....
oh I just know it's all going to end in tears

There are a lot of things Mr Salmond and his cronies haven't thought about. As for the population as a whole, they have a right to a referendum of course, unfortunately for them the shower leading the charge (the SNP) have a bag of chips a mile wide on each shoulder and an agenda as long as yer ar(lu)m...

Dave - nail and head. The only reason I would go for this semi independence lark is simply to see change. It's not proper independence as they've stated they would keep the pound and the Queen but there's got to be something better than the Oxbridge crowd. There's lots of ins and outs but politicians don't make choices - they just play for the best of all worlds with Europe being a prime example. (Are we in/out? Why not both?) The BBC reporting of this has been dreadful of course and there have been several protests outside the BBC to highlight the lack of impartiality during the independence campaign. www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-28079812Personally,I couldn't care less if it goes - I just don't watch TV.

Caution: forum rules strongly advise against discussion of politics and religion. You know it'll end in tears!

My comment was more an observation regarding how the referendum is being handled rather than the SNP's political position Martin. As for Scots aspirations (or otherwise) for independence, it is their decision to make and I fully respect that

Whatever happens we will have guvmunt of one type or another.
Having one for Scotland and one for the rest is probably worse than one, but who can be sure....

Did say I'd bow out but can't help myself here; At T in the Park YES flags were taken off people as the BBC didn't want the show of support to be seen.
Despicable,in my opinion.
Right,won't try to bite anymore.

Presumably the Scots would end up with the BBC World Service only, like all the other ex colonies.

All the BBC radio stations are available on-line as are most of the BBC TV channels. In fact, most of the independent UK channels are there too.
I still don't watch any of them. I do listen to Radio 3 and 4 occasionally.

Unfortunately it isn't going to happen with Mr Salmond at the wheel, he doesn't have a scooby. Too many Scots just don't trust him... Now, if Jim Sillars was in charge the outcome might be somewhat different.
