The M3 today was full of idiot holidaymakers in over-stuffed people-boxes going south-west while I was just trying to get home. So many of them are mobile chicanes. I'm following a white SUV-box driven by a woman on the inside lane, doing around 60. She's not overtaking anyone. Her husband turns round to look at me. I'm thinking "get out of the f***ing way!" Still she doesn't move over. Finally she pulls into the middle lane and turns to give me some sort of lame gesture but I've ignored her and already passed before she realises I've gone!
I find that ignoring them and never responding just makes them more angry. Such a big difference in driving style between commuters and holidaymakers.

Driving slow in the fast lane to me is...not cruel, not demented, it isn't quite evil but it's like someone injected self centered "Yay I live on my own planet!" Stupidity with steroids.
If you love to drive slow, great, there's a lane for that. If you like to dictate the speed at which the rest of us must go too then hand in your license and sell your car. Or, wake up.
...it's worse when the one doing it doesn't notice that many other cars are needing to then pass them in the middle lane to get by them.
A classic favorite of mine is when the guy behind me is driving bumper to bumper with me, mad that I won't speed up when theres another car just ahead in a sea of traffic, there's nowhere to go but he's mad at me.
I wouldn't be caught dead driving in the fast lane and not hauling complete a$$, which is why I quite often now I do drive in the slow lane all the way to the right.

Understandable. I was a much more offensive driver years ago and not proud of it. It's a good feeling driving in the slow lane in fact away from the hustle.

I mix it up, sometimes in the outside/middle lanes but other times the inside lane when I want to get a move on. I'm polite to other drivers and many are polite back. It only takes a few, though...

Yup, makes sense.
I've had to take a driver retraining program 3 times in last 15 years. Always for minor infractions adding up, never had a collision with another driver.
But the stories I heard in those classes of what can and has happened out there on the road are chilling.
The thing I pay attention to now is distance. Trying to keep distance from other drivers.

Driving out of London today it happens that indicating prior to changing lane was optional for a large number of people. Maybe it was the heat??
Nowadays I try to give all these lunatics a wide birth, especially on the motorways. I'm happier to be doing 60mph on cruise control in the slow lane, rather than fighting it out with some testosterone laden Audi whack job ...

I was supposed to see my one of ny GP Practice's Nurses tomorow for my Diabetes assessment, or whatever. I got a phone call today to tell me they need to rearrange the appointment as the nurse I need to see has just tested positive for Covid. Rescheduled for 10 days time. Of course, that meant that it was pointless having the scheduled telephone appointment my GP had arranged. That's now rescheduled for 13 days time. It's a good job I mentioned it, because as the Doc had put it on the system himself, the admin assistant didn't realise it was on there.

My last face to face appointment was three years ago. I'm starting to forget what my consultant looks like and my appointment with him has been pushed out to November - for the 5th deferral. Meanwhile, my GP has retired and I've never met the new one.

YODEL After my parcel had been out for delivery with "Joseph" since midday... We need some more information about your address. Please chat with us. FFS. Joseph must be the first driver who hasn't been able to find me that I can remember. It's being redelivered, with my extra instructions about precisely where the property is included, so we'll see what happens tomorrow. In the meantime the final pedal for my new board (the YODEL parcel is the power supply) seems to have gone AWOL, it's now 5 days overdue and was sent via Royal Mail, and I know for certain that they know where I live. I've had to email the sender about that too today. Even if it doesn't eventually materialize, and I get a refund, I'd be surprised if I can find another one at such a good price. My new "feelgood" pedal board is now starting to piss me off.

Well, there's a shock, not. The eBay parcel that was overdue has arrived. That's the parcel which was supposedly posted on July 5 th via Royal Mail 2 nd class, that arrived today via Royal Mail FIRST class, which cost the sender more than he actually charged me for postage. On the positive side, it turned up in the original box, inside a cute little cloth bag, and looks absolutely brand new. [EDIT] YODEL seem to have worked out where I live, and the last component for the pedal board is here. I can start building it now, after I take care of one more non-music-related little project.

The idea that sunning yourself on the beach in the hot sun is nice. It's over 40C again and roasting. What is the attraction in this?
Luckily, Ruth agrees and we've taken refuge away from the bloody place. We only came here (Playa de Santa Catalina) because it was recommended!

Problem solved. We found a shaded cafe and had drinks and ice cream.

40c means 104 o to me, which means I would have fallen over long ago.

An amusing coda to this: we drove back to the hotel and are now sitting outside under shade with cold drinks to hand. It's 42C again and utterly intolerable.
We fell to laughing about how awful it is being roasted alive.

It's only 24o C here, according to Alexa, and that's far too hot for me.

You know what Martin, you'll both need a holiday after that.
I think it's winter in Australia!

We are now calling it our 'punishment' rather than our holiday.
