Never mind that - even the price of some reissues has gone crazy in some cases ...

That's a really nice colour Paul ... The "Standard" is the model that I want and as soon as I saw that one with the Bourbon Burst finish I started coveting it. About the only finish I've really ruled out though is the Cherry Sunburst and it's Heritage variation. What's the quality of modern Les Pauls like?

Gibson are a huge brand, consequently they have a huge fan-base for whom they can do no wrong and another group equally dedicated to finding fault with everything they do. Standards have probably dropped over the last decade or so, but that doesn't make them bad guitars. They also tend to send them out without a proper setup by all accounts which may account for some of the bad reviews.

A BBC newsreader talking about airplanes. We used to be able to rely on BBC English but it seems those days are gone. Prepare yourselves for reports about nucular power stations and things made of aluminum!

I'm beginning to notice a missing syllable from the word 'speciality' as well.

Prepare yourselves for reports about nucular power stations I've heard one BBC reporter do it already and I shouted at the TV!

Selling on ebay can be so frustrating sometimes. I've done pretty well recently but it always amazes me how many people can 'watch' your item without you getting to sell it!

And getting back to the OP, glass kitchen chopping boards and kitchen devil serrated knives. What's that all about eh?
Learn to cook, buy good knives and a wooden board or just buy a microwave and don't bother . . . haha 😁

My great grandad was a butcher and always went on about how important it is to have good quality sharp knifes to my dad, so I was brought up with that philosophy.

Good quality knives and a good board should last a life time. I've got a knife I use daily I've had since 1982 and my board is not much younger, it's big heavy and I oil it and look after it. Quality remains long after the price is forgotten. Nowt to beat a good quality sharp knife, your great Granddad was right

I use a 'plastic' chopping board these days; it's so easy to just bung it in the dishwasher when you've finished with it. I bought a set of Tower "stone-coated" knives and a block of Richardson knives when I restocked the kitchen utensils recently. Neither of those go in the dishwasher.

We have a set of Sabatier knives which I keep sharp. Plastic chopping boards for us, though, and they go in the dishwasher.

I'm obsessive about keeping knives sharp. I often have a small bald patch on my right forearm, where I test them!
