Regarded by some as typical 1980 pop crap, but I am just blown away by the sheer energy, superlative sound quality, great lyrics and even better tunes. It's one of my Top 5 sound quality test albums, superb sonics. Probably best known for the hit single 'Video killed the radio star', personally I think that is the weakest track on the album. The Buggles comprised Trevor Horne, legendary musician and producer, and Geoffrey Downes. Both went on to join the band Yes. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_BugglesTuck away any prejudices you may have and just enjoy the ride. Hint: play it loud.

Thanks so much for stepping in at short notice due to the absence of the scheduled member Jerry. This one might throw up some interesting discussion!

Of course I know the big hit but never heard the rest looking forward it. These two guys are involved in tons of stuff elsewhere , as Jerry says both joining YES and Greg later Asia , also Trevor Horn aka Frankie Goes To Hollywood

The album kicks off with something ABBA would be proud of (not that there's anything wrong with ABBA). Then there's the big hit, and after that the rot begins to set in. Side 2, and we're into banal, pumping power pop, typical of the period.
I gave it a three.
For me it's a low point in Trevor Horn's production legacy.

I have never heard it apart from the obvious exposure to the single, which I hated. I'm slightly nervous over the idea of sharing my living room with this for 40 minutes or so!

I have very similar feelings to Chris B on this It's not compulsory, John! Having sampled what some of you guys listen to and recoiled in horror, I can only say that tastes vary enormously! Try tracks 1 & 8. And 11 is interestingly different. If they aren't too horrendous, try the others.

Track 1 is fun so far. Very Abba, as Chris says.
Come on guys, you've got to try it to have an opinion!

Abba. Well, I know the Age of Plastic inside out and I've heard a lot of Abba -- it would never have occurred to me that they sounded in any way similar. Weird how we hear things differently.
