There is a new TV series following police pursuing Ebay scammers. I suggest contacting the relevant team if you are conned in future and Ebay refuse to play ball. Police are taking this seriously if Ebay aren't. As for this instance the seller is an idiot. How do you confuse a TT and seismic sink with two packages? Best thing with hi-fi is to do collection only and limit to travelable distances especially turntables). How do you confuse a TT and a seismic sink with two packages? Well if you had read the provided information, you would have seen that the Seismic Sink package also included a custom cover for the Rock turntable, making the package larger than would be required, if it only contained the platform, obviously. The two packages, I imagine, being similar in size, although the one with the turntable, would be rather heavier.

You can only sell on ebay if you accept paypal as payment, paypal rarely if ever side with the seller (well over 10,000 feedbacks on my seller account in 10+ years they have sided with me ONCE in all that time).
So its win win for buyers even when they are obviously wrong, not in this case of course.
Paypal give buyers 180 days in which to log a dispute after the goods have been received, so I can buy something then after say 5 months create some b...s...it excuse as to the item not being right and get my money back.
I know it works as it has been done to me many times.
Ebay and paypal are nothing more than a necessary evil.

There is a new TV series following police pursuing Ebay scammers That's interesting, Paul. What's it called? 'The Ebay Scammers'. It was repeated last night but can't remember what day I saw it. First one was about a Romanian gang performing a car sales scam. Personally I think the victims were naive. They produced false paypal payment emails and promised to deliver vehicles which of course did not exist.

Well, got my turntable, arm & cartridge - still at my sister's. The seller originally offered the Seismic Sink as compensation, but the other buyer was insistent on having it. I didn't enquire, but there must have been some exchange between the two. I was ready to send the platform when the seller cancelled the sale for it and asked if I wanted it for £75. I gave him a £100, which was still less than the original sale. Anyway, I've finally got the turntable I've wanted for decades.

Got there in the end then! Well done. One of the best systems I have ever heard contained a Rock.

I know John Bamford of Hi-Fi Answers/Pioneer was a big fan of the Rock, and still has some version of it.
It has the polystyrene platter, Rega RB300 arm with Incognito Cable, Michell Technoweight and low hours Goldring 1042. I think it's me hi-fi buying come to an end. Unpacking boxes is getting to be too much effort.

It's an awesome deck for sure. I was so close to getting one back in the 80's, heard it on demo a number of times ...

Thanks. My redundancy payment from earlier in the year took a bit of a hammering, but it was a bargain.

...er, 'no proof of delivery' is a slam-dunk refund. I think you're getting a bit confused. The bigger problem here is that you have made only a few posts since joining and are already displaying the kind of arrogance, calling a member's statements into question, that gets right under my skin. Kindly reel it in a little until you get to know members and they get to know you. Could I 'respectfully' ask that you re-read my posts carefully. At no point have I called the a member's statements into question. My problem was with the poor advice the OP was being given, a common problem with these sort of threads. I don't see the relevance of my post count tbh. As for 'arrogance', I suppose that's a value judgement. Anyway, I'm glad to see that it all worked out in the long run.

Listen, whoever you are, don't come back here to post well over a year afterwards and still try and tell me that the above didn't happen. I'm in no way 'confused' now any more than I was then. There was no proof of delivery ever produced yet eBay would not take my claim any further. I received no product and no refund. I simply, at the time, offered it as an example that eBay do not always resolve issues 'slam-dunk'. I probably still have the e-mail messages about it, not that that matters.

I'm talking about Mr Whippy's problem. I've no idea what you're on about.

DM, it's pretty clear that Martin was making reference to his own personal experiences with eBay. In my case, I could have taken the route for a refund, but I really wanted the deck. There seemed to be some issue with the buyer of the isolation platform. Initially, he seemed a bit less than willing to respond to the seller asking for the deck to be returned. Anyway, it all worked out ok in the end (at least, for me).

You quoted my post. Who exactly is confused? I quoted your post because I was referring to it. I didn't, and still don't, understand the relevance. As I've said previously, my posts are/were related to Mr Whippy's problem, now thankfully resolved, not yours. I still don't understand what you're getting your knickers in a twist about, and why you've felt the need to direct personal abuse towards me.

...er, 'no proof of delivery' is a slam-dunk refund. I think you're getting a bit confused. This is how you started it. It isn't a slam-dunk refund and I wasn't confused. Personal abuse? Are you a snowflake? Just leave it now, we've had quite enough of this side-tracking nonsense.
