Marco , we all make choices based upon the knowledge , resources and information available to us . It is not always necessary to prove our choices are better than others , they can lie on the same plane of experience , happily . The needless consideration of the minutiae of our choices in order to stratify them in to a hierarchy of whats best is at a least tedious and at worst can lead to pointless conflict and arguement . If I may be so bold , Hifi and cars are two such subjects for me . I think Marco (in particular) is in danger of being accused of "willy waving" here.

If I may be so bold , Hifi and cars are two such subjects for me . So why be a member of various hi-fi forums? What exactly do you get out of it? Also, relating your experiences in and outside of audio, to (in the main) like-minded people on forums, is not about determining who's ‘best’ is best, or indulging in oneupmanship (as you always seem to see it), but rather simply a desire to have a chat or socialise with others, by discussing topics of mutual interest. No offence, but you do have a rather cynical and negative outlook on life sometimes, and appear to look for ulterior motives to perfectly normal human activities, when in fact there are none…. Returning to the subject of driving, you never answered my question: can you drive, i.e. have you passed your driving test? I’m simply curious! Also, if you wish to avoid pointless conflict and argument, then it’s probably not a great idea to refer to the nice cars some people here own as ‘penis extensions’, and instead (like i respect your choice to use taxis), respect the choice of others who derive great pleasure from a) owning a nice car, and b) driving it Marco.

Interesting you should interpret what I’ve written that way, Philip. I’d suggest that says rather more about you than it does me Marco.

Because you always interpret me simply relating aspects of my (perfectly genuine) lifestyle to others as “willy waving”, which for me, tells me something about you. DQ also shares that unfortunate trait. What’s wrong with being happy and living a fulfilled and contented life - is that such an alien concept to some?
Marco.

Marco. There is nothing whatsoever wrong in being happy and contented in life Marco, in fact it is to be encouraged. It's boasting about it in minute detail that causes the "willy waving" remarks.

Well, that’s where you’re going wrong, then. I’m not “boasting” about anything, simply describing my circumstances. If you see that as “boasting” then there’s something wrong with you, not me.

I think the truly contented man would not need to broadcast to anyone about his wealth, cost of possessions, size of car etc etc. In fact, in a lot of cases, less is more. Perhaps when you get older you might realise that ?

To be fair, Philip, this thread is about cars so I hardly think anyone should come over all shy and say nothing about their car if they're going to contribute? TonyC clearly has a monster car but hasn't been accused of willy waving.

With regard to HiFi tell if asked or offer if being discussed rather than publisise what one has.

Precisely, Martin, but for some reason (best known to Philip) it’s different with me - and I (by far) certainly don’t have the best car here…. Marco.

That’s exactly what I did; I wasn’t ‘publicising’ anything, but as Martin correctly says, merely contributing to a discussion. It’s a sad day that when doing so, and simply relating your experiences to others, is automatically considered as “boasting” or "willy-waving”. For me, that says rather more about the insecurities/hang-ups of those who think that way than anything else! Marco.

Ok then, onto the pertinent questions: 1) Has Martin’s interest been sufficiently piqued in terms of trying Nitrogen tyre inflation on his BMW? 2) Can DQ drive, and if so, why is he so shy about discussing it? Marco.

Hi John, It doesn’t really, but for someone who’s got so much to say about the cars people drive, and their reasons for owning them, it might come across as a little less disingenuous if he himself was a driver
Taxi…..! Marco.
