According to this site, there are 858 Subaru BRZs left in the UK from all years, only 150 of the 2017 model and only 6 of the 2.0i SE Lux model, which is my car. No wonder I only ever see the occasional one at a car meet! www.carlogbook.co.uk/subaru/brz/

We had another car meet today, at Blackbushe Airport. We expected the worst of the weather, but the rain cleared up beautifully and the sun came out. Good coffee, good snacks and good cheer was had by all. 15 cars turned up and we even had a guest Corvette this time.

Been a year now since my car lost reverse gear - which turned out to be next to impossible to fix and resulted in it being scrapped Had to plan a bit with me borrowing the boss's motor. Reasonable so far

Saw a TV advert for a BMW i7 tonight - looks pretty swish but the price is over 100k (!!) so obviously looking to set themselves well apart from the likes of Tesla. Don't expect the punters buying them will be too worried about the cost of electricity this winter...

Just gave it a wash. It turned 86k miles today. Totally reliable since I bought it in early 2018. Not garaged, driven every day, summer and winter. The best car I've ever owned.

Some absolute festering bastardus scraped the side of my parked car overnight. Just so frustrating as I have always kept it in decent condition. That will be a few quid I just didn't want to spend right now.

Wow.
I have had three quotes for the paintwork and they are all 300 quid give or take 10 pounds. It's not the price that surprised me as much as that the quotes are so similar. They seem to have got it very nicely worked out between them ...

£300 seems to be the standard rate for any single panel repair/respray.

Also, a lot of modern gear is utterly soulless and devoid of life and character (I'm talking about aesthetics and ergonomics here). The same is true for cars, cameras and all sorts of other commodities. I couldn't agree with you more about cars. 99% of them are utterly passionless and ugly, to boot. So-called SUVs (most of which are never used for that purpose) are all boxes on wheels with different badges and hot hatches are mildly interesting shopping cars. Very few give real driving pleasure. Even cars which should be good, like the Audi TTS that Ruth had, are a thoroughly anodyne experience leaving you numb. Don't get me started on electric cars. For me, the few which really stand out on the road are the Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT86, Mazda MX-5, Nissan 370Z and the mighty GT-R, Lotus Elise and relatives, Lexus LFA, Porsche Cayman. Strangely, Italian supercars leave me mostly cold - too big, impractical and expensive. Aston Martin and Jaguar emphasise comfort over driving pleasure now. As I said, a stylish car with some performance and putting the driver first is a rare sighting on the roads these days. The sea of characterless cars does at least make them stand out more.

Agreed, but I still like a Lambo ... You couldn't afford the servicing or fuel costs even if you were given one!

Owned a Lamborghini Countach quattrovalvole in witch hat gloss black, purchased it when I first had my compensation funds, total head turner, sounded like a cacophony of Banshee's having multiples orgasms whilst high on petrol fumes every time you pressed the loud pedal. Absolute pussy magnet. Went like a verbose stoner after some ultra-pure Afghan Skunk tied to a top fuel dragster at a Santa Pod European Finals meeting. Downsides (lol) You need a left leg that has more than a passing resemblance to Hulk's as the clutch was a little 'stubborn' to move on accassions. The Door's never really fitted properly and the hinges has the build quality of a Grimsby fisherman’s wife's dress sense and demeanour Fuel economy was on par with running a pair of Gryphon Colosseum mono blocks 24/7 (which idle @ 3.2Kw each) 12 MPG if you didn't abuse the gas pedal (so American lol) Rear tyres lasted fractionally longer than the current UK prime ministers. AA/RAC membership was a necessity as call outs were *quite frequent* Have a nice hold all made to match the interior leather to carry the spare fan belts was also a must. Plus an astute financial adviser to run your portfolio with zeal to enable you to cope with the cost of ownership A healthy amount of barf bags for passengers you 'impress' Some delightful lower order prime ordeal goo infestation doing his best to impersonate a three toed bell end who has 'issues' that you have this type of car and wishes to express his displeasure by using a screwdriver to redecorate your Italian stallion with his newly discovered Anglo Saxon words from Channel 4. Parking your vehicle only to find a crowd of admirers around it when you return. Owning a Lambo is like having a great summer fling with a cracking lass who goes like a Rabbit on dextroamphetamine, easy on the eye and carefree, only to find out after a week or so an ultra-high maintenance bunny boiling Bula Ballbreaker. Everything has its place, but just leave it in the heated storage space to gather in value
