The boss used to have a Saab 2.3 Turbo Anniversary P Reg, same as my vanilla version
The gears were just too high. Even after many miles driving hers I was so often in the wrong gear

2005 Toyota Carolla. It's a dream tbh. It was offered on Craigslist for $4,800 a few weeks ago with 42k miles on it. They gave it me for $3,600. One previous owner an elderly lady who worked in the city but didn't like parking there so she commuted by rail all week. And the car just sat in her driveway. That's the lowest miles I've ever had on a car.
The car is silent. And looks new. That was my one wish. I just didn't want to hear anymore creaking. It's the best condition car I've had.

With the demand for Land Rover Defender continuing
This looks a clever move

I'm expecting some wheels to be delivered today.
No, just the wheels!
It's too easy to buy stuff that members sell, both hi-fi and cars. Guilty this time, I had hankered after 18" wheels (mine are 17") and these were too good to miss (he is returning the car to stock and I got them for a third of the new price). Now I'm going to have to faff around getting the TPMS sensors swapped over. All good fun.

Now on XXR 527 18" wheels with 235/40 rubber. Really suits the car, I think.

All of them - I don't intend getting old, just stay in mid-life!
If you don't transition back to two doors from four, after the children have gone, you're missing out.

With work i need a comfortable motorway cruiser, i could get a company car but you get crippled on the tax, i was looking for a BMW 530D but i found the Volvo S80 a more relaxed and comfortable car on the motorways so that's what i got, kids recon it's an old mans car, to which i tell them they can easily walk to their destination

I doubt that anyone's interested, but I thought I'd share a non-hi-fi problem I've been having with the exhaust manifold I had fitted by Tuning Developments almost two years ago. It rises into the engine bay and back down again in order to give it a long run and improve torque. Unfortunately, it almost touches the top radiator hose and I've had to heat wrap the hose and exhaust several times already. The clearance is just a few mm and, whatever I do to twist the hose out of the way, it's always too close for comfort. On a hot day, I fear for my engine bay with all the heat brought up into it. I'd had enough about a month ago, sought advice from Abbey Motorsport who do all the work on my car now, and ordered a new Rogue Motorsport manifold. The equal-length version is on the right in the photo (I've chosen EL to make the car just a little quieter - less Subaru burble, more racecar). This will remain completely underneath the engine and will not bring any heat up into the engine bay. I'm having it installed next week, complete with a new dyno tune as is always required with such changes. Being one of the best on the market, its design should give me a little more torque again over the TD. And you thought power supplies were the best way to improve performance?

Was it you who published the other small Chinese electric car, Stephen? I think that one looked better and at least has four wheels!

Just to finish the story, the new manifold was installed yesterday. I was told by some (presumably not very technical) people that it wouldn't make a difference to performance because I already have a supercharger. Does that kind of argument sound familiar to those of you who know a power supply can make a big difference? The proof is in the numbers and the way the car drives now. Abbey found a dollop more torque, which is just what I wanted. Even better, it's right across the rev range meaning I've got more go whenever I want it. Nice. Green/yellow is the new manifold, red the old one.

A dumb down question - how does more torque specifically contribute to the driving experience Martin?

A dumb down question - how does more torque specifically contribute to the driving experience Martin? It means he can spin the wheels more easily and smoke the tyres.

That would make sense - I wonder if it was Martin I saw in a white BRZ doing donuts in our local retail park ... #fastandfurious.
