The data is there, can't seem to get to it.
i want to find house prices in the South of England. Closest I can get is to search on individual places. To find out for the whole of the South that would take days
Clues anyone please

Doesn't the Land Registry publish a property price index?

Zoopla and Rightmove are a good start.
Also if you know the Post Code out it in Google and search for recent sale values, I've done this before and it seemed to work.

For what kind of house? Zoopla will do searches by area and type of house, may given you some good averages.

From what I see I can only search in exact areas. No one has a search covering Surrey, Sussex, Bucks, Beds, Cambridgeshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire - at the same time.
Assume this sort of search is not asked for as most people are looking to move to a place, say Woking. I'm at least very interested to see how much places go for around the South. We know that broadly prices increase the closer you are to London, so they drop as you move away. There must also be higher and lower pockets around. What I'm most interested in is peace and quiet. Don't need to be close to schools, towns, main roads, train stations etc.

You'd probably need to look at Villages then, Mike.
There are some lovely areas in the Berkshire and Hampshire area, and I'm sure the same can be applied to most counties.

Apologies for my post above, I didn't realise you meant the actual price of actual houses!

I doubt you'll find exactly what you need. On the same track though, I find the Halifax House Price Guide a useful guide to the general market

Is "Griffiths Towers" going under the hammer Mike?

I expect he needs somewhere else to store all that spare gear.

Good luck! I've been looking to buy a house recently, and in an area I know well, and there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to pricing. Some of the asking prices are completely absurd - one can only assume that the sellers have no real intention of selling their properties!

I remember when I sold my flat in Horsham before moving over to here, one of my neighbors had his flat up for sale for £100,000 more than mine, and I was at the top of the ceiling. His reason was that he had put a replacement Kitchen and Bathroom in himself (which by the way were pretty average) so felt it made his flat worth that much more, delusional!

This started when the boss was pushing me to move to Beds. She insisted I go and see a place up there even though I don't want to move. Amazed how much there was for the price. Occurred that there would be similar areas around so I wanted to know where these places are for future possibilities Plus I'm interested.
The data is certainly there, just no way of accessing it with the current tools
