Can someone recommend a contact cleaner (or something similar).
I have done away (for now) with the hifi system that was in my home office, and started using my Harman/Kardon Soundsticks to play Spotify etc. from my computer whilst working.
The only problem is that the H/K's have been in the loft for the past couple of years, and whilst they still appear to work, there was a lovely lump of spiders web in one of the connectors. I have cleaned it out as best as possible, but thought it might be an idea to clean it properly.
So any recommendations, I don't want to spend a lot.
Thanks in advance.

Deoxit is the best I've ever used. Get the spray can, which comes with a thin tube for directing it. Use it on all connections - signal, speaker and mains.

It's Caig Deoxit D5, to give it its full name.

I think any good basic spirit based solution would work well including cellulose thinners. Just don't get it on any plastic. Deoxit is fine but expensively unnecessary. Think about what you already have in your shed/garage. I would suggest Servisol is best for applications you can't get into such as enclosed switches and enclosed volume controls that have become noisy. Generally, all this is unnessacery anyway as the process of pushing on a sprung contact over a socket physically cleans the contact surface anyway. There are many that argue special cleaning solutions make a positive difference to their sound. They might do in their head, but actually are probably of no benefit measured against any basic cleaning substance or even just hooking back up. All IMHO of course.

A proper contact cleaner should be fast evaporating. Ambersils good as is 2-26.

Deoxit leaves a residue to protect the contacts.

Indeed, it's superb and justifies the price.
