Over 25 years old & the seventh studio album: 'Violator' is the album i would recommend to anyone wanting to be thrown into the deep end of DM.. This is the Basildon boys at their very best & the album that made the band a world success, The LP gave use no less than four hit singles I saw the band live twice at the very early point of their career on the 'Broken Frame' & 'Construction Time Again' tours & also saw them on the 'The world Violation' tour. A truly superb band in a live situation, even though they were much different on the latter of the three tours. If you like the album its available on a single CD as well as a collectors CD/DVD set. Even Susan Boyle is a fan & has covered "Enjoy The Silence" on her 'Someone To Watch Over Me' album.. Spotify:

Nice choice. I have this album but haven't listened to it in a while so looking forward to it.

I must confess to knowing very little about them. Listening now...

It's very 1980s (ok, I know it's from 1990) and very much of that time. Enjoyable enough, but it doesn't really get my juices flowing. 6/10.

I used to hate DP in the 80's , never really heard them since , I shall listen without predjudice and see if I have changed my mind .

This worries me tremendously! Whys that Chris? Obviously no need for drummers or bass players. However they do use a Real drummer on tour these days as you can see from the clip.. Years ago they used a Teac 'A3440' Reel To Reel for all the drum tracks in live situation..

You know me Andre, I'd much rather see 3 guitarists there than all that keyboardy nonsense.

Nothing wrong with keyboards, it's what they do with them. Ask Rick Wakeman or Vangelis.

No sorry, I'd be afraid to. They both leave me pretty cold. My taste is for them to provide a little fill, or maybe something to listen to while the guitarist changes a string!

Not for me the kind of music in the 80s I really disliked. Interesting a friend was playing some recent Depeche Mode and they took on a lot more gothic feel which I found myself liking, but 80s keyboard music is not for me

Lazy is superb - my favourite DP track - and the intro is excellent, but when all's said and done, it's just there to warm up the rhythm section for when the guitar kicks in! ELP never really hit the spot for me. I would never describe anything they did as fantastic - I recognise their skill but just couldn't grow to love the music. I've owned all of their albums, got rid of them all except 'Tarkus', but somehow re-acquired a few in recent years, each of which I have only played once. VDGG were the only keyboard heavy band that ever really got me really excited.

For me pop synth keyboards remind me of the 80s and I stand by my score and subjective view point I do not mean to offend we have very different music taste i am totally okay that we all have different tastes
