Our power supplier keeps leaving messages that they want to come & fit smart meters. No asking telling you you are having one. I dont think so some how. Now ive been told they are compulsry! i think not..
Am i in my rights to refuse, if they wont have it maybe just piss them off & use a different supplier.. Water meter was one of the worse things i ever had fitted & i see this being the same mistake.

They're not compulsory. Just Google smart meters. There's the GOV site.
The first generation are already out of date, as they're not compatible with all suppliers, and are going to have to be replaced.

Water meter was one of the worse things i ever had fitted & i see this being the same mistake. Moving to a water meter was the best thing I did. Since, my bills have consistently been 75% lower from what they were when I payed a property rateable value flat rate.

Maybe not compulsory as such, but in many areas if you buy a house they won't connect you to the supply unless you have a meter installed

They weren't able to fit a water meter in our flat - just as the well as the bill would have actually been much higher in our case!
