Hi I am Colin. I have been interested in audio and music for awhile. I often make my own kit, and encourage others were possible to do the same. So I will see you all around.

Hello Colin and welcome to TAS. I hope you don't mind stepping over the boxes and avoiding the paint cans as we are still building the site!
Tell us about the kit that you build?

Hi Colin
I attempted to build a Sinclair amp many years ago but botched it horribly, dry joints mostly. I'm becoming more confident and may do some simple mods like I have on my Technics Be interested to hear what you have inside

Hi Colin, Welcome! Gosh, I was thinking about the Lecson Quatra just the other day - I don't expect many others remember it! A bi-amp integrated amp - was the original idea yours?

Hi Chris, Maybe but why worry it is done, I think JVC did one for the BBC surround broadcast that were once done in the early 1970's I recall hearing "Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy" for the first time on one, it sounded amazing. Along with Quad 4 channel headphones. Heavy beast you needed a neck brace after a hour or 2. I also think in "Electronic World" John Linsey-Hood did a kit. So I was most likely a late developer with it, it was design for Bi-Amping and each channel had a out of phase channel i.e. Bridge or Balanced this reduced the peak demand on the PSU. A very simple amp and concept but cheap to buy, It had MM and MC and MC was new then. lecsonaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Paul-Burrell-Lecson-Range.jpgTaken over by Paul-Burrell until he lost the court case then moved to China.

I actually meant to ask whose idea was it to use that approach for that particular product. To my knowledge, the earliest use of the idea was a Sound Sales valve amp which used three output circuits on a single chassis for tri-amping - KT66s for bass, EL34s for mid and EL84s for treble. I'd love to get my hands on one of those just to see how it might perform in a well matched system.

KT66s for bass, EL34s for mid and EL84s for treble. Should have used EL84s for mid. Liquid doesn't even cover how good those valves can be on female voice.
