Does anyone have experience of good quality systems for outdoor patio use? Ideally multiple Speakers as it's a largish area with different zones.
Ideally it could link up to something like a Sonas in house system for seemless music. Control by phone / the Spotted one etc over phone would be the desired source.

In the past we've taken the main system speakers into the garden, but you need a lot of cable.

Perhaps rechargeable bluetooth speakers might be the best bet as the one thing you don't want to bother with is a load of cables everywhere. You'll just need a tablet and Spotify to provide the music.

I have a long set of dedicated cables for that purpose alone which I keep stored in the garage. It is infact old tin plated thick copper stranded mains cable, but it is more than adequate for outdoor use with good performance at the same time. Doesn't compete with the listening room, but who would expect it to?

Hehe, I've turned my 5 way horn rig out through the French windows a few times. Can't do that in current pad. I was thinking more of something that is plumbed in and can take all weathers. We've got a portable rechargeable Bluetooth boom box which is water resistant and goes surprisingly loud for its size, even in the open air. It has 4 woofers, two each side, and a few tweeters. A system approach to a few of those could work perhaps. I guess multiples would be able to Bluetooth concurrently? I’ll have to see what Sonos do. I saw their under TV sound bar/square on the gadget show. That in the lounge and a couple more of theirs about the house plus water proof or two in the garden could do it
WiFi coverage is no problem.

An update to this one. We're looking at getting a few Sonos ones to cover 4 rooms in the house (not the music room). So not for Hifi just to play some tunes / radio (esp Swedish radio) here and there. The synch option is nice for party mode. They do the Connect AMP - a 55wpc amp that can drive outdoor speakers of your choice. Odd that Sonos don't offer an outdoor solution as they pretty much tie up the indoor market since getting Alexa.. Outdoor speakers are designed to work in open spaces as well as be weather proof so a better bet than just using your existing speakers in the outdoors We'll see where this leads. I'm still looking as Echo V2's vs Sonos but they are never going to beat the Sonos SQ. Multiple Echo Dots and using existing amps / speakers / radios Aux in is another cheaper option.. Joined up but our radios etc won't sound as good as the Sonos. Sonos do a 100 day trial too! There I've talked myself into it now...

Wouldn't multiple Echoes possibly go out of sync with each other? Even a little bit would be horrible!

Hehe, I've got 4 Sonos ones on like or return. The Echo just didn't cut it sq wise for me. The Sonos ones are a bit bigger but have a much bigger sound.. Pretty easy for me set up.
Sonos app to setup then Alexa app to skill it up and tell it what music (or other) things you what to play. I used two as a stereo pair in the lounge. We've not had any speakers in there at all since getting music rooms.. Therefore have 3 zones at the moment. Kitchen, lounge, bedroom. I'm going to get an echo dot for the workshop and use our ancient Bose Wavesound radio on aux there. It's decent enough sq but just one Sonos one whoops it soundly! The two in the lounge are a revelation. Putting all on synch there's no drift all perfectly in time as you roam around.
It's interesting just saying Alexa, play xyz be it radio (TuneIn) Spotify etc. Change the volume by just saying Alexa, volume 2/3/4/5. 4 & 5 are pretty loud...
Fun and games.
Can intercom call each device, make and receive phone calls and more.. Set an alarm to surprise Marie with tomorrow. You just say Alexa, set an alarm for 8am tomorrow, and off she goes..

Alexa could be the great saviour in brain plasticity in the fight against dementia... You have have to remember the title of every song you want and pronounce then reasonably well too!
She doesn't do too well on the Swedish stuff.. oh well there's always Spotify app for those.
I still can't quite believe that such good sound comes from a stereo pair of such small speakers. I might trial a soundbar and sub for the lounge just to see how good it can get.. Okay it's never going to lick my system in my lifetime (I might live to eat my words).. is it?
