What a load of old marketing bollox!
'We are very pleased to announce that our new Naim designed mains plug, Power-Line Lite*, is now available to purchase for your Naim system.
Our engineers took into account our founding principles of isolation and purposeful materiality to create a fantastic value addition to your treasured Naim system.
The plug was developed alongside the new Uniti range and uses the mains cable Naim have trusted in our listening tests for over 15 years. Featuring a brand new high-gloss floating cable retainer, the mains cable has a thermoset resin case with floating pins for superior electrical contact and the same decoupling techniques used in the original Power-Line.'

And get rid of all my Coherent ! Obviously as these are 'bound' to be better, as the blurb above will have you believe.

And of course the more words used and the more press coverage the better the item.

Think they will be better though. Newer plug, possibly a pound or two more spent - and unavoidable cleaning of the socket.

I'm by no means a fan of Naim, however I would point out that this type of practice is common. I refer you, for example, to a Cyrus 1 metre PSX extension cable at £49. I believe it to be a standard xlr terminated cable, of the type sold for about £15 (and that's with Van Damme cable).
I'm sure both Naim and Cyrus would say the markup is due to the handling cost etc...

I saw the fabulous mark up on print industry parts. Classic was a motor for a jogger. List from the sales agent for a Belgium company, think was around £600
Fortunately for us there was a UK supplier label on it. Around £50 for refurbished.

....founding principles of isolation and purposeful materiality...
I think not! If JV or anyone else used the words "purposeful materiality" in 1973 they would have been beaten black and blue with a lead filled cricket bat.

That'll be £92.50 for the brand name, then. More like £94.75!

Amazing, one of the magazines has just reviewed this cable and said it's a significant upgrade over their standard cable and a no brainier upgrade, really!!
