I'm shocked, James spoke positively about his health developments this year. Must have changed suddenly as he was excited about ASBO, the first to jump on the suggestion of a meeting and expected to be there. James' genuine enthusiasm was infectious and time spent with him always a pleasure. One of life's rare gentlemen.

Really sad news, hope it isn't true. It's a real shame that this is true. He looked so young too and was such an engaging and friendly person to have on the forum, such a shame. RIP James. |

Sorry to hear this terrible news. Sov will be greatly missed here. He certainly played down as to how sick he must have been. Condolences to his family and friends.

Really saddened to hear of this. Only ever had good exchanges with him. Knew he was a valued member on this and other forums.

I believe Colin is going to be selling off James' gear for his family. I sent James my valve dac to borrow just a couple of weeks ago, I have asked Colin to sell it and give the money to James' wife.
Doesn't look like much and has no top, but it is the prototype of the Longdog Audio dac, and has a valve output stage with Bud Purvine transformers, and it's seen off many a dac over the last few years. If anyone is interested please let Colin know. I'd say a fair price would be around £400 or so. The transformers alone were around £200.

I know James was self employed like myself, he would not have been paid all the time he was off work, so I'd say his family needs all the help we can give.

I am still in a state of disbelief about the news.
Very sad, and as a father with a young daughter myself, I feel for those he leaves behind.
Although HiFi forums can be a pretty hostile place at times, moments like this bring the best out of the members.
A really generous gesture Ali. I am sure it will be appreciated.
