All destined for that 'special' ark in Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Oh yes I think the best ones are the jokey ones and the apt ones. Some of the trade ones are good. Shame the money they trade for is so much. Capitalism at work. None at all today apart from boring ones. Finishing off with LOL can be amusing. Also like AND Could be used as a pair

Ignoring the ones that contestants in Only Connect would fail to understand I'm going for the ones I think are good and/or make me smile. The latest style of number plates give a lot more leeway
WO55UPP
00002 FOX and 10 minutes later 00007 FOX both on Minis, the latter a secret agent hair dresser I'm sure
Laughed when I saw BO55 RAT Assume there are DOG, CAT, ANT and others out there
ST5 6RAB - on a big grab lorry R3 BOG - on a cesspit clearing truck
000 5NAP
JU5 2 FLY maybe a bit pretentious, especially on an expensive looking Merc convertible.

When I worked in Aldershot, I would often see a bloke on a mobility scooter in the town centre. He obviously had a sense of humour as he had fitted a car number plate which read 5PAZ

Like that, plus the ones you wouldn't think of until you see them. Getting more attuned to 5s and 6s being used for letters now

Amused to see
GR03 CUT
on a Lawn maintanance van
not remotely amused to be almost run off the road by a dick in a Merc with big engine/exhausts with a re arranged plate F1 something or other.

Noticed that JH11HAD wasn't allowed

It is possible
J1HAD
was issued, a long time before we heard the word. Might even be out there still
With the rise and constant use of three letter acronyms, TLAs there must be a load out there ripe for tweaking, let alone 3 character words that could slide through

That's funny - I think of them as TWAs - three word acronyms.

Banned number platesTenuous. There are some there I still can't even work out. If I was any good with Only Connect maybe I could see what they were getting at

That article makes the claim in the headline and then goes on to provide no further detail, just talking about what private plates are. Another one for the bin!
