Has anyone on here bought one of these? I did and for the price of a couple of drinks it is better than it should be. Of course it only has one input. Some have experienced hum, which can be cured easily. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291786271575

I bought a kit version of the same thing... to buffer my little SMSL SA36A class D which I'm using as a part of my PC studio monitor system and for the PC sound in general, via an optical out on the motherboard. For silly money it works rather nicely and smooths out some of the slightly rough edges in the upper registers that can occur with a Class D. I think it also gives it a hint of warmth that was missing previously.

I could convert this into a buffer, but as I have 2 X-10D's (doing nothing at the moment) and a Pass B1 I made which I'm currently using, I will leave it as a Pre.

According to the info on your version and mine it's already built, or "based" on an X10-D circuit. I'm not sure where the volume control comes in, but...
I deliberately bought mine to use as a buffer. I always wanted to hear what one sounded like but could never justify buying an actual X10-D on a whim. I did remark in another thread though that seeing as it's a Chinese copy it being based on an X10-D is probably a bit like saying "this is a horse, it's based on a giraffe."

I should probably have mentioned that I've recently swapped out the 6J1s on mine with a pair of these... which improves on the original a bit. Not "night and day" but noticeable for an extra £11.50

Excellent, a 99p power amp! Can't see anywhere to stick the signal in though. Is that the thing that looks like a headphone socket?

Not sure. That might be output. The one I linked to is not a best example but I couldn't find a good one. Mine has the green connector blocks for input, output and 12v supply. Easy to set up and complete with it's built in pot. It's worth getting one just to see how good they can be connected with a good source and speakers. Quite remarkable.

It's likely that the 3.5mm jack socket is the line input and the terminals are the speaker outputs. The power socket between them must take DC in.

A quick word about the replacement valves I've used and recommended, or rather, about their vendor. I've just bought 2 more pairs to replace valves in another buffer and a mm phono pre. I only paid for 2nd class postage (£3.50...there's only one postage price no matter how many pairs you order) and they were ordered at about 21:00 on Wednesday night. 10:15 Saturday morning they arrived. I know 2 sales is not much to judge on but I've been very impressed so far.
I just thought it was worth mentioning as he also seems to be about the cheapest UK vendor too.
